My DD has an audition with PPA but we don't know much about them. Does anyone here have any advice? She is auditioning for the Acting 3 year course but advice on any course would be great

we love PPA!!

My son was offered the 3 year MT diploma there, (but ended up going to CSSD) but was all prepared to accept it. Funding was tricky as I remember as it wasn't eligible for student grant, but the general feeling was that they work really hard for their students and were lovely, positive and encouraging at auditions (a welcome change from some!). I don't know much about the acting course, but know that the Mt was very well balanced between the 3 disciplines.

My son now knows one guy who has just got into Book in Mormon from there. My other son is now looking and will audition there too.

Another vote for them from me. DS had a great audition experience and was offered a place last year but we could not afford it. Seems they are currently undergoing validation for a degree course so one to watch for us x

Yes, my DD went to the audition and ended up auditioning for the acting and the musical theatre. She has a call back for the acting and has been offered a place on the MT course. They told her that they will be doing the degree course but I'm not sure if that is from next September. Fingers crossed it is because we wouldn't be able to afford it without the student loan.

What and where is PPA? Sorry for being dense!!

Performance Preparation Academy are in Guildford. I don't know if I'm right but I understand it was set up by people who used to run/work at GSA.

It would be so fantastic if PPA did do a degree course. I've heard it's a great place but funding is an issue. If student funding was available it would be fab. Please keep us posted ais17
My DD is at GSA but because of the high grades required, when my DS auditions next year I don't think he would be able to apply to GSA. But as you say ex teachers from GSA work at PPA and I think it sounds really good. I can recommend Guildford too

My DD went for her recall at PPA last week and was offered a place on the Acting 3 year diploma. So now she has been offered both the Acting and the MT diplomas with PPA - what a great dilemma to have! She absolutely loved it there, the teachers were very welcoming and the feel of the place was extremely comfortable. I think the pastoral care will be excellent so that would be a good choice for my own peace of mind.

We were also told that they should be offering the degrees from September but we are waiting for an update on that, as we can't afford the funding without the student loan. I'll keep this post updated when I hear more.

PPA website lists BA Hons In Performance in Musical Theatre for September 2016

I saw that last week as well, but the trouble is I don't think that government funding is available straight away at institutions starting a new degree course, I am pretty sure that Millennium had to wait a year?

I don't think it is necessarily the case that institutions have to wait a year - rather a combination of when they start advertising the course as a BA and how fast they can complete all the necessary formalities to get the funding aspect sorted. I know with Ballet West students were not actually able to apply until quite late and the student loans did not come through for most people for the start of the year but they did get the full amount to cover the first year - just late. Hammond advertised auditions for a new BA Musical Theatre course last year and it started in September 2016 with student finance already in place. Yet I know of a new school that has students about to enter their third year where the accreditation and funding process is still not complete. So who knows for PPA. It may be sorted for September's intake. Prospective students will just have to keep in close contact with the college.

This is brilliant news. I really hope they get the funding set up for the Degree course soon.

PPA have just announced that they have been validated to offer degrees from September. My understanding is that there is no student finance available to students this year and next year they will be able to borrow £6000 which I think is just under half of what the fees will be per year as it is a private college.
