Which foundation course?

Hi, I'm in my last year of school and I'm looking at foundation courses for next year but I'm really unsure which to apply for. I *think* that I want to do a BA in Actor-Musicianship in the future but I'm not sure whether an Acting or MT foundation would prepare me best. There are only 3 schools which do actor-muso and they each seem to have a slightly different approach (e.g. Rose Bruford is more acting based and GSA treats it as a quadruple threat course). I'm also worried about whether it's too specialised of a course as I really don't want to limit my options for the future. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

As long as you have plenty of money, then I think any foundation course with a syllabus you like the look of will be fine.
I know this isn't what you asked but my advice would be to save money and try to earn money in a gap year whilst getting as much performance experience as you can. Also see as much theatre as you can afford and perhaps try getting involved as a volunteer in a local arts/music festival. Go to open days and consider a short (week or two) course if you feel you need /want it
A BA course is so expensive (when you take into account your living expenses ) and I think you can get very valuable experience to prepare you for auditions without doing a foundation course.
I know not everyone will be of the same opinion! It's just one opinion to consider.

I think foundations are great if they open the doors you want. They do differ hugely though on contact hours and success rate . GSA foundation excellent with great results and u can live in halls. Not sure about the others you mentioned though. It's not cheap but the training during that year can be intense and unlike any other.

Thank you for your advice pg. I am a bit wary of the more expensive ones but I think I would definitely benefit from some sort of intensive training as my dancing in particular is a bit of a weakness. I'll take a look at some part time courses and other options!
Thanks, oscar. I'll take a look at the GSA foundation. Do you happen to know how many hours per week are on each discipline?

I couldn't answer that as hours but the dance is very intense. They work alongside the BA students. Some days started at 8.30am and went on well into the evening. They work on all areas and audition technique and increasing your repertoire . I am sure there are other good ones out there too. Good luck.
