I know it's been quiet on here lately and there was always more MT students than straight acting ones, but wondering if others have seen this regarding Bristol Old Vic?

Not entirely sure I'm following their reasons regarding the OfS, why wouldn't BOV be with them already? I am aware the school took very small numbers which can't have helped matters.

Is anyone able to explain further?

BOV are not a degree awarding institution in their own right. They work with a partner university (UWE) as is common with many drama/dance schools. There are, however extra costs involved in this as the partner university takes some of the funding.

I assume that they were going to apply to be degree awarding in their own right. BIMM (who now own Performers, Northern Ballet etc) have done this.

There have been cuts to the amount of funding for high contact hours performing arts courses and it seems that they feel they cannot offer the kind of training they want to with the limited funding they will receive from SFE. Many universities use the higher fees they are able to charge international students (which is more akin to what it actually costs to deliver the course) to subsidise UK students. If BOV can't take International students that further hampers them. Mountview & Arts Ed are private and charge top up fees. BOV didn't charge top up fees.
