Re: Private Drama Tuition
Well as sometimes happens things come out of the blue. I have just taken over from an actor who had to pull out of a production at the National, and started rehearsals yesterday (audition Thur and Fri, found out that eve). Sorry for not being on here over the weekend, as you can imagine it's been a ...

Re: Private Drama Tuition
Sorry for not being around for the last few months. As mother of Son of PG has said - the end of the National job and then dashing about Edinburgh on a spoof walking tour (as well as co-directing an all female production of Romeo and Juliet) has taken up a fair bit of brain space. I’m currently wait...

Re: really upset, I need some advice
Tikka, Sorry for not being involved earlier. Excellent and varying advice from everyone. You must be a very angry and frustrated person, and I don’t blame you. Making the school know how unhappy you and your son are is the first action to take, but it is not necessarily the most important. I feel th...

Re: A Couple Of Drama School Application Queries
Well, I thought I ought to say something, as I’ve called myself a Private Drama Tutor I feel I better stick up for the ‘coach’. First off, I personally feel if you haven’t done your speech in front of someone before your audition then you’re actually doing yourself a disservice. Directors exist in t...

Re: Help with best route to becoming a drama teacher.
By ‘Trained’ I mean an accredited Drama School. I think this is what most people mean by it. I put it in commas as actually being trained in the profession comes from so many different sources, I have lots of colleagues and friends who are doing brilliantly and according to some have never ‘trained’.

Re: Help with best route to becoming a drama teacher.
Thought I’d throw my sixpence in as well (is that the saying? Now I look at it don’t think it is). Of course I agree with everything pg has said, as is to be expected. There seem to me , at it’s simplest, two routes one could take, although after university/drama school they probably become even mor...

Re: Is My Agent Behaving Badly???
As has been said by most on here, I think it’s best for your son to have a little look elsewhere. It’s a very difficult thing to do at any age, to call up your agent and have a good old complain (I can hardly bring myself to the phone), but a brief meeting with his agent may clear some things up. I ...

Private Drama Tuition

Re: 2012 DRAMA SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
Sapphire - As long as your daughter is prepared with another monologue in her head when she goes to the audition then it’ll be fine… and interesting for her to have a male speech. I’m sure they’ll ask her why she has chosen to do it, and if she get’s a grumpy panellist she may be asked to do another...

Re: Monologues
I agree with tikka. Try to find something which you have a passion for. Getting speeches from Audition books can be dangerous, as many people do them. I’m guessing this is for Auditions? Think of a classic Children’s story or a Dickens, Blyton, Pullman etc and there will be a play version almost cer...

Re: Moving To london
Whether people like it or not, unfortunately London is the best place to be when you’re starting out. And it can be a great place to live, I've learned to love it. Get yourself on Casting Call Pro and try to get as much experience as you can. Are you thinking about applying to Drama School?
