Just concerned about sharing personal details ...

Hi

I am relatively new to all this. DD is 16 and is sitting her GCSEs and wants to try and make the most of the longer holidays if possible. We are registered with an agency but know mandy.com, talentcircle etc are good places to find parts in short films but am a little concerned about the fact that you need to provide quite a lot of personal info to register. Would appreciate any feedback, thoughts, experience

I know how you feel.

Read all the terms and conditions for the websites re whether they share your info with anyone.
If you are registering then they shouldn't be passing your info to anyone else without your consent.
But obviously if you want to apply for something via the site then your details will be passed on to the person placing the casting notice.
For myself, I just trust my own judgement about applying for something for my dd, and also keep an eye on NAPM for advice from others.
I always try and google the casting information separately.
If something feels dodgy then I don't apply.

At the risk of repeating myself endlessly about Starnow, they required either my driver licence number or my passport number to register my dd. The info is not required from adults. I refused to give the info as I felt it was a step too far in these days of identity theft, and could not see the point. They claim it is for security of the children, but how? I could invent a passport number and Starnow would never know it was invented unless they can hack into the UK Passport database - hardly likely !!!.

I am registered with mandy and talent circle. I have never had any problems so far with these 2 sites.

Thanks Doris! That's really helpful. It was Starnow asking for details like that that totally freaked me out in the first place!
