Can anyone help or advise please?

Post by masieytom96 »

Hi
I have a problem, my DS and I moved to London last year, so that he could attend SY school and perform in Oliver. I had a sponsor that was helping me towards the fees along side saving, and fundraisers ...However they have now had to pull out due to money issues with themsleves...
So now I am trying to find another sponsor very quickly to enable him to stay at the school. I have spoken to him and he knows that he may not be able to return in September and he would be upset but fine with it.. the sad thing is that he has just got a part in Matilda as well.
So what I am asking is whether anybody knows of anyone I can approach please?

Would love to here from anybody that has any advice or maybe help...
Thanks for taking the time to read this..

That is such a shame but I know of a couple of people this has happened to,hard times :( As he is doing so well why dont you have a chat with Sylvia and see if there's anything she can do,maybe a scholarship?

Good luck.
With great power there comes great responsibility.

i agree with the suggestion Proudmum's made and if your ds is working the income can be contribution to the fees too at SY I think. Hopefully SY can come up with a solution or suggest other contacts for funding -
You could also go to one of the larger libraries and have a look at the books that contain lists of charitable trusts and funding institutions and you can see if your ds would be eligible to receive assistance from any of the trusts listed - This will not just be organisations like the Jack Petchey Foundation, there are lots of trusts who offer a number of awards each year depending on age of the applicant, stage in their education and its based on need - you'd be surprised at how many charitable trusts there actually are.
best of luck, really hope things work out ok for your ds

What year is he in? If you can make it to year 10 Sylvia will help with fees. Also if you wanna stay in LDN then theres the brit school. look around for other funding, but I think most is aimed at y10 + (GCSE). How long would you last without any help?

Also get him to try getting on higher paying shows than Oliver (i think Les Mis pays more).
