The Woman in Black (Feature Film)

Post by Dawn »

Had a mailshot from The Casting Website about this with the following brief. Has anyone heard about these auditons? have all the usual agents got them too?

The Woman in Black (Feature Film)

The story centers on a young solicitor, Arthur Kipps, who is sent to a small market town to the resolve the estate of the late Mrs Drablow. In doing so, he endures increasingly terrifying unexplained noises, chilling events and haunting by the woman in black. The villagers are extremely reluctant to reveal any history and most attempts cause pain and fearful reactions.

The villagers have lost their children and it's a sad and scary story.

Found the below on the web but no mention of castings

Hammer's hotly anticipated The Woman In Black, an adaptation of Susan Hill's popular ghost story, will start production this autumn.

Directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) from a script by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass), the film is being co-financed by Hammer's parent company Exclusive, and Alliance Films. Filming is expected to commence in the autumn, with Alliance also distributing the film in the UK, Spain and Canada.

Younger DD's agent has submitted her for this - I think she could make a great ghost! It's a fantastic story - anyone seen the stage version - I have, twice, and I've never seen an audience sream so much!

It's Marlowes agency. based in London. No fee, but they like you to be on spotlight if adult. I do think my dd would do better if she was on it, but can't afford the £88 = photos fee. But it's a small friendly agency. Not sure if still taking people on but you can ask. Email them at assistant@Marlowes-agency.com.
(They prefer you not to phone the office initially)

They took the kids in in batches of 10-15 at a time... they must have literally seen 100s of children over the days they were auditioning. We've not heard anything since and I'm not holding out much hope... I don't understand why they insisted we go all the way from Newcastle to London for a 30 minute audition if they didn't actually want to use her!

Hi. This is the first time I have used this forum, so please help! We are also relatively new to auditions! My daughter was 'called-back' for the woman in black. She went to London on the 10th. Have not heard anything. How long does it take for them to decide? It took 2 weeks for the phone call to say she had the call-back. Do you hear either way or only if you have been successful? Has anyone found out if they have got it? Any help or information appreciated, i've looked on here many times, finally decided to register!!! Thanks

Hi there Littlediva and welcome to the site...did they give you any idea of filming dates? if it's soon then you will hear soon -adverts usually have a quick turn around so usually hear within a few days but for films can take months - we waited 3 months from the first audition to the recall and then a few weeks until the screen test. Our agent tells us either way once they are penciled or have had a recall...I know it's hard but sit tight, get on with life and wait for the call.....good luck

Thanks for the reply, very helpful! They are starting filming on the 26th September with prep before, who knows how long that could be!! I will stay hopeful for a while! Hopefully our agent will put us out of our misery if she doesn't get it! Its very handy having people to ask, I dont like bothering our agent with loads of phone callls! Besides she isn't in the same position! Thanks again!
