If you can't get hold of them by phone, then I'd definitely do the whole "recorded letter threatening legal action" and follow it through to its conclusion.
I'm surprised that ANY agency works off an answerphone either - how annoying must that be for casting directors not to be able to get hold of the agent for instant answers? If I want to speak to me DD's agent, I know that I can either call and get an immediate answer, or e-mail in which case an answer is generally back within a few hours. That's as it should be, because as you said earlier - we are their customer, not the other way around!!!!

A genuine oversight, which wasn't dealt with following e-mails, recorded delivery letters and phone messages?
