SHOPPERS could get the chance to take to the stage thanks to a series of musical auditions.

Lewisham Shopping centre is hosting the auditions for top musical Annie in the run-up to its performance at the West End’s Bloomsbury Theatre.

The event will run during half term from October 25 to October 31.

Organisers are looking to fill the lead roles of Annie, Daddy Warbucks and Miss Hannigan, along with 300 other for the supporting cast.

There is also the chance to win a theatre school scholarship with Make Believe Productions.

People taking part need to book a slot and learn a song from the musical.

funnily enough my ds is doing this at stagecoach this term and was just practicing the song Tomorrow with me but unfortunately cant go for the role of Annie

Well if you're 13 then aren't you the perfect age for Annie? When I did Annie the girl playing Annie was 13...

In the stage version of Annie her age is stated as being a little older than in the film version. Think she is 11 in the stage version. Pepper is 12 and Duffy & July are 13.

dd was 13 when she was Annie,but she was very small-have to watch your not a big thirteen as age 11 is mentioned in script

Igloobabe - I would go for it if I were you. It's not a very long production (the ad says it'll only run for about a week) so it can't be very big, so I would imagine that as long as you could possibly look 11 then it would be okay to audition. And if not then you might get to be an orphan/in the supporting cast or whatever. I played Duffy when I was 9 (so completely too young for it, but it was amateur!) and the main orphans actually have quite a few lines, so you could try going for one of them.

dd has been Annie three times in different theatres,she has also played Molly and Tessie-guess what don't think I ever want to see Annie again

FYI everyone - this is an amateur production with a franchise part-time theatre school similar to Stagecoach (just in case you were getting all excited about it being "West End"!) More info can be found at

Don't know anything more - I just went looking & found their website, cos I just wasn't getting a handle on the whole "perform in the WE but audition in a shopping centre" thing....! Thought you all would like to know what you may be getting into!
Funnily enough, I couldn't find anything on the website about fees....

And the theatre itself, whilst I am sure is lovely, is not a professional West End venue. It is a university run theatre in central London near to the West End seating just over 500. It hosts smaller scale touring productions, comedy, concerts and amateur productions.
