Post by wissymo »

Hi,im wondering if it is worth paying the subscription to starnow if your child already has an agent....possibly 2!!
I have a profile all ready but can't decide if i need it or not! or as a newbie if i will be aware of what is genuine and fake...

DD has got quite a bit of unpaid experience through StarNow. I suppose it depends how much work you are getting through your agent(s)!

If your unsure, why don't you wait until you see something worth applying for and if you can't find the info anywhere else then apply, my dd has had a few castings from there and gained some invaluable experience.

My younger got an audition for small potatoes, my older one found out about loads of singing competitions, which she reached the finals in and had an audition for a World Cup song in which she got to the final 2, they both had a casting for a short film as well. So I think it's good value.

We have also had good work from it but as has already been said dont sign up and pay until you see something you want to apply for

I second that. As you pay for 6 months at a time I would wait until there is something that really grabs you or you could be wasting a few months subscripton.
Regarding the agency aspect, castings that appear on Starnow do not usually make it to agents as they are often no pay or expences only, but they are an excellent way of gaining some experience for DS/DDs portfolio. My DD has been very successful through Starnow and has several lead roles in short films and a few supporting roles in feature films. She has even been approached for roles she hasn't applied for (some of which have not been put on the site).
All the experience she has gained, credits, showreels, set photos etc have been put on her profile with her agents (and spotlight) and we have noticed a massive jump in the number of professional auditions she is being offered recently.
