Hi, I'm new so I'm not 100% sure this is the way to start something, sorry if it's not!
I've been invited to an open casting for the Sell A Door theatre company, for a production 'A Taste of Honey.'
Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the company, or if anyone else is going along! Thanks!

Re: Sell A Door
Hi there and welcome to NAPM.
I don't know much about the company. My advice would be to find out what the pay is before you spend any money going to an audition. Although they are touring to some decent venues, it is a "Fringe" company and this can sometimes mean no pay at all. They may have secured funding, though there is no indication of this on the website. If they haven't, I think I'd want to have a clear idea about how the production was being financed and what I would be committing myself to. Could I ask how you found out about the auditions and what information you got from the company?
I found this on their website:
"Sell a Door is entirely a non-for profit organisation. All Directors, Producers, Actors, Technicians and Designers share one vision; to produce a high standard of entertaining and challenging theatre and this drive exceeds any desire for a wage."
So there you go! I guess it depends what you want and where you feel your place is in the profession. Not much exceeds my desire for a wage...

Re: Sell A Door
Thanks! Gutted really - think I'm going to have to miss. Really can't afford to miss any school at the moment. I'll see how the day goes. But thanks anyways
