GCSE's and filming

Post by JTBmum »

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way round doing GCSEs and postponing them till next year?

Ds has been offered audition for lead in film but starts shooting mid March. GCSE's due in May June. Dont think they want a lock out for that amount of dates. DS is 16, 17 in August and is at a private school. I think he is legally obliged to be in school until June. He would be able to do GCSE's in a year at a 6th form college in London next year.

Any ideas?

Don't see why you can't postpone them to suit you ... or sit them and then retake if necessary?

..but if he is 17 in August he is beyond compulsory school age, isn't he? Year 11 children have to be 16 by 31 August 2011.

Yes I finally got to the bottom of this. He was held back when he was 4 due to late August birthday. That means he is beyond compulsory school age and does not have to have a license. In theory he could leave school before his GCSEs.
