Looking for a good agent

Post by sparklymommy »

Hi, I am looking for a good agent for my DD. She has never been signed before, and I want an agent that is actually going to put her up for work, not one that will charge the earth to feature my DD on their website and she doesn't ever go to a casting. She is 8, and particularly interested in musical theatre and tv work, although she would be up for doing anything! My main problem is that we are based in the West Country and when I have had a preliminary look at agents they seem to not take kids on their books that are outside the M25. Having said that I am prepared to travel with DD for castings, having today taken her to London and back in a day and found it quite manageable. Any tips for looking for a good agent and what to expect would be most appreciated, and any names of agents that might be interested in my DD would also be welcome, Thanks!

If you look on http://screenterrier.blogspot.com/ under agents they have this list of agents saying they are the best one's for children, however I have no direct experience with any of them :)

A&J Management
Kelly Management
Byrons Management
Jackie Palmer
Mark Jermin Management
CS Management
Sylvia Young
Redroofs
Corona Theatre School
Young Actors Theatre
SRA Agency

I have also heard a lot of the mums on here talking about Abacus but they have only just had auditions so they wont for a while now I don't think :)

Thank you, I shall look at those. Sylvia young is the one I have already been contemplating, as DD did an experience day there in March and is attending their summer school. Its also a name that I know!!!

Have heard a lot of mums ( and dads!) on here say really good things about AJ management and CS management. Have heard of some of the others, but the really talked about ones on here are Abacus and AJ. But Abi is right, abacus have just had auditions, but you can still send your application in. I think that AJ have auditions about once a month, but I'm just relaying info said on the forum. The others on here will prob. have more info on the matter
Hope this helps! Good luck in finding an agent :D :D
