My DD is a place CAT graduate, now studying at LCDS in her 2nd year. When she auditioned it worked differently but what they will be looking for is the commitment, motivation, excitement and want to dance coming from the dancer and not being pushed by the parent - they often interview the dancer first and then bring in the parent. They may also ask if the dancer has seen any performances recently and to talk about it in terms of their own dancing. They are also looking for potential as well as existing talent. It doesn't matter if contemporary is new but a good grounding in ballet is worth its weight in gold. However I have known them take students with little or no ballet training because of their potential and their personality adn clear motivation.

Good luck to your friends DD, if she gets an offer it will be a wonderful experience for her.
