Looking for a new agency - advice?!

Does anyone have experience of getting a showreel made? DD has enough material now but I wouldn't know where to look for a decent Company who make showreels. I know people that say they can do them but after viewing a few of theirs, they look rather unprofessional and I know you only have one chance to make an impression with a new agent.

If you're looking for a decent editor, I recommend Round Island. There are also lots of other companies listed on Casting Call Pro. I know Irishdance also used a very good editor for her ds's showreel, though can't remember who they were.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with Byrons management/casting...or knows how easy it is to be represented by them?

I have been represented by Byrons since I was 5 (I am now 16) and it has been a very positive experience. I am afraid I cannot offer any info on how easy it is to join them as I did so many years ago but I do strongly recommend giving it a go. Over the years they have offered me the chance to audition for numerous roles in big feature films (such as ‘The Golden Compass’ and ‘Harry Potter’), West End shows and many other productions. The staff there are friendly and really great with kids.

Not sure about Kelly, seems to be a mixture of reviews on them. A few have said they do not reply to emails and I believe they expect you to go to a weekly workshop if represented by them.

I would say go and see as many agents as you can manage and not just stick to one or two, you may see one agent and be happy with what they say, then see another and be blown away. Don't just judge it on the agency, judge it on the actual agent. Do you get on with them, are they someone you could call up with any issues? Do they know what type of role you'd be right for?

If you sign up to IMDb you can source a great deal of information there. I know it's expensive and there is some debate as to whether it's worth it but it does give you the contact details of the agents and also gives you the chance to check out the type of actors you like or are in the same age range and then you can see who is with which agent, what work they've had lately. You can also see who are the top 10 London agents and the names they represent

I know that ALL the "BIG" agents will require a showreel and they will also expect a fair bit of footage (commercials & student films won't count) I know we found it hard when dd was looking for an "adult" agent, we had 3 lots of film credits on her showreel and they still asked for more before they would even consider seeing her.

i am on imdb pro how to i look up top 10 agents, i didnt know i could do that, and how can i find actors in a similar age range to ds, that sounds really helpful thanks

You need to go to the industry directory then click on company directory. Not sure how it all works or how they rank them but all the big names are in the top 10. It will show you a list of Company Names and where they are ranked worlwide

It's pretty good for finding out who, what, where & when & also to check out if what potential agents say is true. Dunno about you but we've met with a fair few lately and some of them love to spin a good story
