What Should I Do?

Post by Fruitcake »

I'm hoping one of you may be able to point me in the right direction.

Whilst trying to find something else online last night, I put DS' name into Google search, and spotted a link I had never seen before. This led me to a very very dubious website/forum, and someone on the forum had posted 8 stills from a short film DS did when he was 10 (he's nearly 16 now), giving the name of the film, who filmed it, naming my DS etc.

After having a quick look at this site it is obvious that it is for men interested in young boys, but disguised in a very clever way.

My question is - how on earth do I go about reporting it/getting DS' details removed etc?

Any advice would be gratefully received. I feel quite sick about it.

that is the trouble with the net any one can put photos of are children there and there is nothing we can do about it as its usaly based in an other country, if I ever find any thing about ds on the net I just go on and start editing it myself, that way i can put the correct info on there. I try and contact the person who has put my ds on and tell them them that I want to do it or usaly u do not even have to contact them just keep a eye on the site and put on what u want on there. DS was put on a site when he was in EastEnders agent contacted them and was told that they would not take ds off and there was nothing we could do. that is why I have said on here to be carefull if yr dc get some thing good and it is put in the paper they usaly give the road u live in the school the dc go to so with a photo of dc then any one who is dodgy knows where yr dc go to school what road u live in. If yr dc is put in the paper tell them that u do not want yr road or the name of yr childs school put in the artical.

God that's terrible. That must have been an awful shock for you seeing your sons picture on it. Were there photos of other children too and what made you realise what it was ?

Ohhh that is awful - poor you :( Dogcop would have been my advise too - very quickly followed by a call to the police - have you had a look at the CEOP website too (think that's right.)

I am sure that this will be sorted quickly, it is dreadful that we face these dangers having the kids online :( I regularly do google searches of my dc's for exactly this reason.

Good luck xx

Thank you to everyone for your very prompt replies. Have just got in, so haven't had a chance to do anything about it today.

Basically, it is a website masquerading as something innocent, but when you go onto the forum part of it (the link sent me straight there), there is a thread about short films............seems all innocent until you see that they are all featuring young boys, and all the photos are of the boys. Comments are very ambiguous (obviously to prevent anything being picked up by searches for inappropriate words etc) but it is quite obvious to me what's going on there. A lot of the boys, and the users, are foreign. Also, all the members have pictures with their names (like we have on here), but they are all of young boys!

I just don't know how they found my DS' film.....it is on Youtube, but they must have trawled through hundreds of films. Unless they know of someone involved in the film.

Anyway, I will let you know what happens.

Irishdancer - please thank your daughter for offering to find that info for me.

Sorry to hear that Fruitcake.

In the past i innocently typed in an email address for the Royal Mail returns service - due to my inaccurate typing i got the letters mixed up and came across what appeared to be a website with links to child porn. I didn't open up the web pages for obvious reasons, and it may have been totally innocent, but i was told to report to an internet watchdog site. Their website is iwf.org.uk it might be worth a look as it may be something that you can report there. Hopefully you can get it sorted out very soon.

That is absolutely disgraceful fruitcake and like the others said get in touch with the police asap. Im sure there are other boys on that site whose parents are oblivious to this and should be alerted.
Keep us informed how you get on, there are some sick people around :(
