I applied for the ABA (the young adult/adult) part of the agency last year, before the cut off date for the next set of auditions. They seemed to have done the auditions starting with the younger kids and working their way up, but I'm yet to hear either way if I was successful in getting an audition.

I don't want to bother them as I'm sure they get lots of calls about auditions, but do you a quick email would be okay? As usual, it's not the yes or the no, it's the waiting that I can't take.

Thanks for any advice.

I would definitely give them a call on Tuesday,to check that they received your application & Cv. I did this as I hadn't heard back from them re my daughter ,& discovered that they havent received my application( sent recorded delivery in October) but they managed to slot my daughter into their recent auditions, she was accepted a few weeks ago& has just got a great job from her 2nd casting for them.Without my call I would still be wondering!!

Thanks Janine. I'll give them a call on Tuesday. Then hopefully know either way.

That's great that your daughter has booked a job already, best of luck to her.

Thanks again.

I've heard that Abacus have now changed their audition process and are requesting a filmed monologue from applicants, anyone know any more about this?

That's right! DD applied to Abacus last year and didn't get an audition but did get an e-mail recently inviting her to reapply for the next round of auditions but to include a link to a YouTube it about myself/monologue of no more than 3 mins length ... now her AS levels are over, I must remind her to do this! Hope this helps

Is it to help Abacus decide whether they want to see you at the auditions or as an audition to join the agency? thanks

That wasn't stated but I suspect it is to help them select for the auditions

That's what I was wondering really. My DD is with abacus now but I was interested as to whether this would be used as pre-screening for audition or as the audition itself. I thought it would probably be the former as they don't seem like the type of agency who wouldn't want to meet/audition their clients in person.

abacus would not take on any one with out seeing as any good agent would not, ds has a very good cv been in a regular in a soap lead in a cbeebies program done over 15 adverts and lots more before I applyed to abacus, they still wanted to see him. The one thing they did say when we walked in for the meeting oh he looks like his photo, they said that they get lots of kids come in and they do not look like there photo ie look a lot older, expect they feel if they get new utube videos to look at will be able to look at the date and see if it is up to date, so would advise if u only have some thing on uTube that is way out of date, do a new one so that Abacus can see what u look like now not a few years ago. Its the same with showreels CD want to see some thing that is up to date if u have some thing high profile then do put that on but nearer the end of the show reel but must have new things at the start

My ds was taken on by Abacus earlier this year. He didn't have to provide a filmed monolague, this was done at the audition.
