i dont want to be a pain but.....

Post by sophiesocks »

my dd is filming a feature film at the beginning of net week, i have phoned our local child employment officer who says that because she is missing school she will need have a performance license, i told the producer who i have been corresponding with, she told me she had been informed that as it was a non-union shoot dd wouldnt need a license (it is unpaid) i told her that the child employment officer said she did but that they were very good and could turn licenses around very quickly, with only a day or twos notice. i still havent heard back so i am assuming they have not applied for the license or filled in a part 1, i am going to phone the child employment officer tomorrow to check but what should i do if they havent, contact the producer again and ask her to fill in a part 1 or let dd take part without a license?

The EWO is right. If any school is missed then she needs a licence, paid or unpaid.

eek.

That's very difficult for you. To be charitable to the producer, it is possible I suppose that someone has told them that your dd won't need a licence, though that someone would be wrong! I think it's more likely they just don't want the hassle.
It has absolutely nothing to do with being "non-Union", that's just rubbish and suggests to me that the Producer is either inexperienced or trying to pull a fast one.

Could you ask the producer to contact the child employment officer (or vice versa)? Could you email the producer with the relevant details from the local authority website? Is this a student film? They are running the risk of the whole shoot grinding to a halt if they don't do it properly as the Local Authority could, in theory, stop the filming.
