my dd is now 14 and 5 foot 1 and she joined abacus too late for West End but she has done Panto for the past 4 years and has loved every minute!
Good thing about panto is the great atmosphere in the theatre's, its only a 8 week run or so over Xmas hols.

She's looking forward to auditioning again this year for Panto's and fingers crossed she gets in - she is now one of the older juveniles but at least its not a complete height cut - off like the West end Shows - and it gives her the chance to be on stage which she loves!

DD did Snow White with Upstage productions in 2009/10, a three week run, and loved it, she was the chief dwarf, Boss. But she's not heavily into dancing, although she does ballet, and has great posture, and most pantos only want children as dancers, so we haven't done any more, however, if a panto with acting parts for kids came along we would definitely consider it.

I hope that those of you who contributed to this excellent thread back in 2011 are still here to advise me!

The lovely riverdancefan recommended I look up this agency for my dd who, whilst she is currently in a (not west-end) musical, she knows its not her favourite genre and we are looking for more acting and classical singing work, and she loves the Opera!

But reading through, it seems that you all agree that a mature 12 year old (looks older) at 5'3" even with lovely voice at Grade 4 ABRSM, is probably not going to get a look in here?

We need to raise a generation of musicians to compose new works - including ALL ages!

Please respond if you have any further insight/ experience with Primadonna.

Ah. It's tough. She may need to wait to grow in to the roles she is best suited to and be content with amateur opportunities and choral work for the time being. No harm in contacting the agency though. They will probably have a better idea of what kind of thing is out there.

Thanks for that pg, it seems to be the same story everywhere, mini children and adults.....I suppose we could stick to the school work! Ha. I will write to them and post any feedback we get
