No auditions

Post by MAGGIEMAE »

Hi
I was recommended this site from a friend. You all seem to know what to do and wondered if anybody could help who might have had a similar experience.
My child was with an agency up until mid last year. Over the years with this agency dc had done not a great deal but was sent on castings and auditions regularly and had picked up on average at least 2 decent jobs each year and developed a nice cv.
Since joining new agency dc has had no, what I would call proper auditions. Only open auditions where virtually everyone has been put forward or ones for jobs that don't pay anything and would have ended up costing a lot of money if dc had got the job.
I am at a loss as to what to do as dc is tied to this agency.
Any advice would be welcome.

Hi Maggiemae

Welcome to the forum, I'm by no means one of the more experienced mums on here but I was just wondering what the reason was for changing your childs agency? Have you spoken to them and aired your concerns? And, If you are not happy with them, how long are you tied to them for?

I have spoken to the agent and it was inferred that this was all my child would be put forward for. Short of uprooting dc we are stuck for possibly 3 years. I am at a loss to know what to do. My main concern being the damage it might cause if when 3 years is up and dc tries for other schools/colleges etc dc could be overlooked in favour of other children who have had more up to date experience.

most agencys only have 6 month contracts, but if u do move they usaly wave this as never known a agency to make sign for 3 years. If I was you would look for another agent or go back to old agen. As this agent is not really not geting yr dc any thing but open auditions then can not see they could do any thing. What agency is this if you dont want to say on here send me a pm. Hope u get things sored out.

I think you could challenge any contract that ties you in for this length of time. What exactly did you sign? It might be worth taking a copy of the contract to CAB or something like that. Is this because your son attends a school connected to the agency or something?

I can't see what an agent possibly has to gain from putting your child forward for unpaid work either. That seems very odd. Can you tell us a bit more about it?

- this doesn't make any sense either! Why would an agent not submit a child for everything he/she is suitable for?
