Pencilled In

Post by jowil106 »

We were told on Monday that our dd had been pencilled in for a commercial following a casting last week. We've never been pencilled before and I was just wondering whether it is usual practice to be told you've been un-pencilled or whether no news by Friday is bad news and we can go back to booking in normal life? ](*,)

Pencilled in !!!!! Thats a tuff one, and then there is heavily pencilled in !!!!!!!!!!!!. It basically means they like you and are considering you and hopefully youll be recalled and hopefully youll get the job , but there probably are a few others in the same situation as you, so just hang on in there with off course an open mind. Good luck. :)

Jowil 106 we are feeling your pain as we are in the exact same situation and not really knowing what it meant. I just phoned the agent for clarification and she told me just what bruno2 said.
I think what makes it hard to understand is the fact that you are told filming dates and told to keep them free, which is at odds with the fact that you might not get it! Grrrrr ](*,)

Pencilled in basically means keep the date free as they haven't decided and they don't want to to become unavailable whilst they dither!

Dithering just about sums up the casting process most of the time doesn't it ](*,)

Hi, first time on this board, my dd did an advert recently, pencilled in after 2 auditions, told to go to wardrobe and asked to go to filming the following monday without a definite yes! However the whole day was fantastic production company, crew, were brilliant and the advert is currently showing hundreds of times and on lots of channels :D , so from what i have learnt from other mums that is the world of adverts, all done very quickly and quietly! Just a shame that the waiting is gut wrenching for us !! Good luck x

In my experience it is normal (but not, alas, inevitable) that you will hear eventually if you are not needed after being pencilled in. It's certainly something that an agency should be willing to chase for you nearer the time. An agent can call to say "my client has had other enquiries for these dates, can you tell me whether a decision has been reached?" - could be true after all, couldn't it? :)

Well done for being pencilled though - it's one step closer!

My dd was penciled in for a commercial following 2 auditions. We waited over 6 weeks but eventually got told she had been chosen and spent 2 great days in London filming!! So don't give up hope just yet! Good luck
