Hi everyone, I remember there was a thread about Abacus Agency Auditions a while ago so I'm hoping that some of you can help me!
Basically I am looking for a new agency, and I would really love to be represented by Abacus , so I sent all my details off to them a few months ago and they said they would be in touch when they next opened their books if they wanted to audition me.
However, they said they were opening their books in July and I have still heard nothing, but I remember that this year although they were supposedly opening their books in January the auditions didn't happen until March!
So I'm not sure whether to interpret the situation as they just have not had their next round of auditions, or just that they do not want to see me? I wouldn't mind waiting usually, but I've had an offer from another agency (who I'm not as enthusiastic about as Abacus) which I need to either accept or decline very soon!
So it's rather a dilemma and I definitely do not want to be in the situation where I am not on any Agency at all! Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi
We went to the last round of auditons. My guess would be that if you are intent on auditoning for them then you probably need to be prepared to wait a while before they start the audition process again. When they do open the books again they will contact you whether you have been successful for audition or not I believe (someone please correct me if I have that wrong!).

As long as you are not tied in to a contract with your current/new agency (in other words, as long as there isn't a long notice period) then there would be no reason not to try to change agencies in the future if you wanted to.
Re: Abacus Agency Auditions
I wouldn't wait for any agency if you have been offered representation elsewhere its they're loss if you get another agent and in my opinion take way too long in letting people know bout auditions. You will be wasting time if you don't but its your call.
Re: Abacus Agency Auditions
I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if it might be worth phoning Abacus and explaining that you have been offered representation elsewhere, but that Abacus would be your first choice and ask whether they could tell you if they are planning to invite you to audtion ( and if so when)! It may get you nowhere, but I think having secured another agent might make them curious ! You never know, they might ask to see you. I have found them to be very pleasant, so you could give it a go. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that !
