Help with local theatre auditions!

Post by zanule »

Hi everyone,

Could anyone help/direct us where to find Local Theatres Auditions for their productions? I have seen so many of posts of dd's/ds's taking part in local productions. But where and how do lovely parents find that info!! :-k

Any help will be appreciated =D>

Hi Zanule :)
It's mainly ash that finds all the local productions and posts them on NAPM... and I don't know where other people find them- but I often find them purely by chance. For example, I saw a poster for a nearby amdram group's musical so I contacted the group and now I'm going to join them. Also, I discovered there was a theatre 5 minutes away from me! And I went on their website and they have auditions up there.

My advice is to keep your eyes open and if you see anything about musicals or theatres in your local area, write the details down and google it/email them.

What town/city do you live in? (if you don't mind me asking) Because sometimes I see things for people in other areas and I could PM if I found something like that ;)

This is the main source for amateur musical societies: http://www.noda.org.uk/

They are the governing body & you will be able to find whats on in your area and/or what groups are in your area and that all-important website! You can search by show or by area. Best thing to do is to go see a production and see what they are doing next.

Good luck! :)
And all that jazz...!

Look at whats on at local theatres. This should give details of local groups. Also in theatre programmes for groups' shows, they usually have an advert saying when they meet etc and appealing for new members. It is a good idea going to see one of their shows anyway to guage the standard.

Hi RiaRocks,

yes, we live in the same area! :) My dd will be starting Bullers Wood Girls School this September.
There are quite a few local theatres around our area - one in Eltham, has an audition for forthcoming production of Cinderella, but my dd is not 12 yet #-o

I shall keep searching
