Kelly Management audition advice

Post by SighNoMore27 »

Seem to spend most of my time asking millions of questions in this particular area and here I am again! #-o

Kelly Management left me a voicemail and then sent me an email earlier inviting me to audition this Saturday morning at 9am, which at first I was really excited about! However, then it hit me that (typically) I have a Saturday morning job which would obviously completely coincide with the audition and I feel it's unlikely that I will be able to get time off work to go to the audition (as it's not for any sort of actual professional work) :(

Do you think it would be worth ringing them back and asking if there would be any other opportunity for me to audition? I just worry that they'll think that I'd therefore never be available for any auditions they put me up for and be put off, but had it been any other day I would've dropped everything to go!

Would love to know your general opinions on missing prior commitments for auditions as well? Do auditions always take precedence, or do you sometimes put clubs and stuff first?

Thanks for all your advice thus far, would love if you could advise again!

You have to work out what is most important for you. DD has missed LOTS of parties/nights out because of auditions/acting work the next day, including her 6th form christmas ball this year which she had been really looking forward to. This is a bit more tricky because you are working, but I suspect if you try calling them to see if you can rearrange then they will simply say, they would only take you on their books if you were freely available to attend auditions anyway. Good luck with deciding what to do!

Could you try changing your shift at work? I would be inclined to do this first.

Claret- Unfortunately it's a small, family run business and I'm the only person available on a Saturday morning, so no chance of changing it :(

Sapphire- how irritating for your DD! Yes, that what I was worried about- as I said, on any other day I would've been prepared to miss out on whatever I had planned, but skipping work is not so easy. However, how common are Saturday morning castings would you say? I was under the impression that castings were often scheduled after school (although I suppose that does kind of include Saturdays...)

Thanks- just hugely irritated, the first glimmer of hope and it coincides with the one of the only commitments of my whole summer!

In that case SignNoMore27 Iwould email Kelly explaining the situation and ask if there is any chance of another time, either on another day or later on Saturday. It can't hurt to ask. Best of luck.

Funnily enough had a call today to say that they have been cancelled due to the riots, and so they are rescheduling for next Sunday (when I can actually do!), so that seems to have sorted itself out. Thanks for all your advice- now just have to choose a monologue
