Just had unsolicited contact (via Starnow) from the above, run by David Stinson. Have logged on the website, and it looks genuine etc. His background seems o.k. Am naturally wary of Schools/Academies looking for paying members, but am willing to be persuaded. Just wondered if anyone else on here has been approached? (it could be a blanket effort to get new people in). Or if anyone on NAPM has a child in the classes? Your opinions would be much appreciated.

Thank you for introducing yourself and telling us about your school. However I feel that on our discussion forum we can discuss whatever we wish to, defensive comments just to raise the mummy antennae! If you send unsolicited contacts via a site like Starnow you need to be prepared for people to be cautious and circumspect.

You may indeed be genuine, but you are still touting for business, so it's a bit like getting spam emails - of course people are going to ask others whether they know anything about you.

I am possibly the most trained theatre teacher in the UK as I am trained in dance, singing, acting, music and piano as well as trained with working with autistic children.

Thankyou for your informative response David Stinson. I don't know about other posters on this site, but I have little/no experience of the performing arts, other than what I've gleaned on the rocky path of little dgd's career. So, I find it's useful to use other parents as a sounding board. Most of them have no axe to grind. Just telling it like they've experienced it. The consumer view is more useful than the supplier! Having said that, if dgd was in the market for what you have to offer then of course we would make personal contact, and discuss further. At the moment financially this might not be an option. When/if it is, then we'll bear you in mind.
