I'm looking for an agency/management but I'm not sure where to start. I tried A&J and they said no because I didn't have enough experience and Mark Jermin didn't even bother replying or picking up the phone. So I was thinking of Kelly and Abacus but are there any more agencies that anyone could recommend to me?
My only experience is school productions and drama schools like Helen O'Grady and The Young Actor's Theatre.
If you do a search around this site you will see various agencies mentioned that you could try. However, you do need to look at it from the agent's point of view. There is not much work to go round and a good agent will only take people on if they think they can get work. You may need to concentrate on getting more amateur experience and perhaps some student films before an agent will look at your application.
Hello!
I completely agree with what pg has posted.
I was in your situation about six months ago, desperate to get going as quickly as possible and really wanting an agent so I could start getting jobs! But.....I'm still without one. I'm your age too, and there is a lot of competition out there, and so I agree with pg's advice to get some amateur experience first. Websites like Star Now are good for student films, and always check websites such as KCCP (Kids Casting Call Pro) and The Casting Website. Definitely contact Abacus, and I know that Kelly Management now ask for video's too (I went to the last round of auditions and it was rather chaotic, so very good idea on their part!).
Overall, I'd say definitely stick with it. I've done two auditions now for agents and although both have said no, I've got really good experience and gained a lot of confidence from them! Definitely keep contacting agencies and try to get more experience all the time!
We too are in a similar position. My little dd tried for kelly with no luck and then we made a decision it was too soon for us to be worrying about agents as she had so little experience. We have been focusing on getting experience through starnow and kccp for about 6 weeks now and intend to do this until early next year and then approach agents in a hopefully stronger position. It seems to be working and she is building up her cv. That would be my advice just like actingmad suggested to you. I think you may struggle to get representation with very little experience, but then again what do I know (except for our own experiences) as we are beginners too. Good luck.
