How to get an audition
I am very new to this, so am looking for any advice to help me on my way. Briefly my ds (10) has been singing and dancing since toddler but has only recently statred singing lessons, upon which he was told he ought to look into different avenues as he has quite a talent. Other than his little bit of singing coaching, he has attended a couple of street dancing clubs and a GLEE summer club.........so as you can see very little experience!!! My dilemma is a role has come up locally in the production of Gypsy that i think he would be suitable for. Applications for auditions are by email, and i dont have a clue what to write!!!!!! It says 'To show your interest' ...... but do i need to include info about my ds? Would really like some help on this and i know there is a wealth of knowledge in this forum

Re: How to get an audition
Hello there
I don't think you need to be too anxious about this
I don't think exactly what you put in your email will matter all that much for this particular opportunity.
I would put something like:
I was very interested to read about the forthcoming production of Gypsy at Leicester Curve.
I would like to apply for an audition for my son, <his name> for the < whatever the appropriate roles are>. <his name> is xx years old and xxx tall. He has been singing and dancing since he was xxx and has a reasonable amount of performance experience for someone of his age. He is available throughout the specified period and would love to be considered for the show.
Our contact details are as follows:
If you would like me to send a CV or photograph, or give more details about xxx's experience, please let me know.
Thanks and regards (or however you wish to sign off)
<your name>
You can put a bit more detail or information in if you like, but to be honest I think they are just getting email addresses/contacts so that they can send out details of the auditions.
I hope that helps - best of luck to him

You are a star!!!!! That helps me so much. I just didn't want to limit his chances at this early stage and as i say, with no prevous experience in this field thought i might totally mess things up. Thanks once again
