Thanks everyone! Just back for Manchester. DD really enjoyed her audition. She found the panel very friendly and liked the fact that they had obviously read her application in detail and knew a lot about her already. So many of the preliminary auditions for other schools have literally been in-and-out affairs. She had a very thorough interview as well as having to perform her two monologues which she felt went well. Now the wait to see if she gets a recall [-o<

Was thinking about you Sapphire - any idea how long until she might hear anything? you know we're all right behind you on this journey now!

She may hear very soon as they are hoping to hold at least some of the recalls in Manchester this Saturday ... but they did tell her not to assume the worse if she doesn't hear as they may not be able to see everyone on Saturday so may call some people to London. I was rather surprised they had gone into so much detail about the recalls and am trying very hard not to read anything into it :? DD has done her usual and put it behind her and is not expecting anything and is now in her room tackling her HIstory A level coursework =D>

...and how did they feel about her male Shakespeare monologue - were they happy with it? I do hope it's a good sign that they bothered going into so much detail ;)

They didn't bat an eyelid about her choice of speeches ... and it does contrast nicely with her favourite contempory monologue. They are supposed to prepare two Shakespeare monologues(which she had), but they did't ask to see the 'spare' one. It does say in the bumpf that you should be prepared to perform the same monologues at the recall unless requested otherwise .... so perhaps that's when something may be said? All very confusing! On the plus side, I finally managed to find myself a new pair of jeans while she was at her audition, so the trip up to town wasn't wasted

Are they the only recalls, Sapphire - or are there further recalls in London later?

They did say she may be recalled later so I suppose there is still a possibility ...

I know it's easy to think the worst, but I'm going to quote your own words back to you:
but they did tell her not to assume the worse if she doesn't hear as they may not be able to see everyone on Saturday so may call some people to London.
..so don't assume the worst!!! [-o<

everything crossed for your dd sapphire. My dd has had a mix of outcomes so far...so I know what its like. I would also have to restrain myself from steaming open envelopes I can tell you 8-[
My dd was offered a recall for RADA, so its a waiting game now and more first round auditions to go. She's worked really hard, so I'm relieved its paying off. I don't want to jinx anything by talking about it too much.
Good luck to everyone else going through this process, realising how tough, competitive and all encompassing it is for them

won't they at least reply one way or the other? So in effect, no news isn't necessarily bad news?

If there's nothing in the post tomorrow will get DD to ring and see what's going on ... it does seem a little strange based on other people's experience :?
