Thanks Cops22 - will do! I first joined because I had noticed that a mum was attending an audition with her children on the same day - and both were also at the Sylvia Young Holiday school. Great community forum to use. I see you have a curly girly too.. looking forward to meeting other parents at future castings (hopefully!) x

Yes Deb - it was you! love to your dd's and looks like they have a busy time from your posts - will we see you at Summer school? x
Re: Helping eachother?
I don't think we'll be heading to London this summer, but we might go to York for the Act2Cam film camp. Flo and Pandy participated in one over the Easter break and had a brilliant time, so they're very keen to sign up for another one. All in good time, though - you're right, they are very busy right now.esmum wrote:Yes Deb - it was you! love to your dd's and looks like they have a busy time from your posts - will we see you at Summer school? x
Hope everything is going well for Ella - she is such a lovely little girl, my girls enjoyed meeting her immensely.

Re: Helping eachother?
Yes it can be, but we negotiate non-residential places and I find a B&B for me and the girls as they're a bit too little to be away from home just yet. It worked out fine in the Gloucestershire one.francescasmum wrote:Flosmum, isn't the York one residential?
Is F interested? I would have thought it would be a bit of a busman's holiday for her!

Re: Helping eachother?
She is interested (especially now Flo and Pandy are going) and did a mini workshop (2 hours) with Steve in September and really enjoyed it, however we have a few fingers in a few pies at the moment which if they come off will mean she won't be available in the summer. If they do not come to fruition then we will probably sign her up. (F said you could stay with us!! She's sure you wouldn't be any trouble, having read some of your posts I'm sure you will!
)

Re: Helping eachother?
You are far more perceptive than your daughter! Which is probably a good thing, but please thank her for thinking of us anyway
We're in a similar situation for the summer - a few things in the offing but nothing firm yet. Steve was very accommodating for the Easter one. We ummed and aaahed for months before committing and even then we had to dip out for a day to attend a film shoot and juggle one of Flo's King and I rehearsals. .
There's one in Staffordshire earlier in August which looks fab (it's in a Castle) but we'll be in Spain then. And nothing nothing is going to get in the way of that!!!
I'm sure F would love being in the company of other kids who love making films. And her super fans would love to see her there too

Re: Helping eachother?
Flosmum,I don't know how old your kids are but, if you are worried about sending them away, my parents first sent me away to summer camp by myself when I was 9 (the camp i go to takes kids from as young as six!) and I was fine. I did know some of the older kids on the camp but I didn't see my parents or any other familiar adults for two weeks. I have been told that my mum was a wreck - she couldn't sleep, she was constantly worrying that I was hating it and she even went and spied on me at one point! But I, on the other hand, had a brilliant time. Of course I was occasionally afflicted with the odd bout of homesickness (especially when it was raining as on this particular camp there are no indoors except for tents for sleeping in) but for the most part I was far too busy having fun and making friends to dwell on home. I loved the camp so much that I have been back almost every year since and I know I will cry at the end of camp this summer as it is the last year I can attend it as a child. I was, and still am, very very close to my parents and I think it did me the world of good to know I could survive without them for two weeks! Obviously it all depends on the kids and no-one can make this decision but you but I think in general kids are great at adapting to new surroundings and if there is something fun on offer then they can easily be distracted from things like potential homesickness so if you do decided to send your kids on the residential course i'm sure they will be fine. Hope that helpsYes it can be, but we negotiate non-residential places and I find a B&B for me and the girls as they're a bit too little to be away from home just yet.
