web links - self promotion

Post by tikka »

Hi

Couple of things I wanted to air about links.

Firstly there have been several really great links to info on the web about auditions, drama school, pod casts from casting directors etc etc and wondered if it would be good to have them all saved somewhere on here for future reference?

Secondly, am I a bad person when I get a little annoyed that someone has just posted a link to themselves on here on 9 different threads (not bad when they have only made 11 posts in total) or should I just be impressed by how keen they are and ask them if they would like to promote my ds at the same time (which is more than his agent is doing )?

Yes, it is great to have links to useful/interesting sites, I agree, and it might be useful to have them in one place. I think the one you refer to may be enthusiasm rather than anything else, but I know what you mean!

There have been alot of " what agent" posts from youngsters recently , I know they have to start somewhere but ....... Is there a site in existence specifically for teens for them to support each other I wonder, I know there is a forum here. I have an awful lot of patience and like to help out as I have been helped out but we are flooded with the same requests at the moment....
Just an observation x

As an add on please don't think I am disingenuous, not at all, I am very fond of this site, as I said just an observation of repeat posting

May be we could have another section listed with conversations and subjects of debate etc, entitled frequently asked questions, where perhaps pg or admin could post the answers in the form of mini info blogs. For the repeated requests for agency information we could have the popular agencies listed and the process of applying etc ?

Perhaps a new section that has links to useful professional stuff, like the pod casts, info on DADAs, accredited drama courses etc etc.

I love reading about what all the kids are doing and seeing you tube clips and blogs etc....perhaps i was feeling a bit grumpy when I started this thread.....so I wouldn't want to discourage 'personal promoting' if its done sensibly! :)

There are some big changes to the site coming soon which will hopefully address a lot of these issues. Please keep the suggestions coming though and we will endeavour to accommodate as many as possible.

When the big changes occur will us technophobes still be able to get on easily - I still don't understand twitter (despite having read all the instructions posted on this site)?

Don't worry, the transition will be seemless.

great Idea having the new section on 'Training', - hopefully it will reduce multiple topics that come under this umbrella on same thing being created. I think postees forget to use the 'search' section for previous links and info on agents etc - and create new subject topics because they like uptodate information and experiences from NAPMs
I haven't done twitter either... or attempted to :-$ 8-[
