Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
I am looking for an agency for my daughter. We are considering different agencies for acting but we have seen that lots of your DCs are with an agency for acting AND an agency for modelling.
Which is better out of the above stated agencies for modelling (and acting...)?
Thanks,
E x
By the way, DD is 13.

Bonnie and Betty are sole reps and will not allow your daughter to be represented by both, anyone who you may have seen doing so is breaking the contract.
There are other non-sole agencies but Bobe are not one of them

Thank you, riverdancefan. I have seen a couple of people on StarNow that are with Abacus for acting and B&B for modelling. If that is not allowed I think it is unfair to B&B that people who are with them are breaking their contracts
. I know that your DS is with B&B. Are they as good for acting as they are for modelling? How good is the modelling? Is it OK that my DD is 13, because I know they usually deal with the younger children?
Does anyone have any information on Kids London and how they compare to B&B?
Thanks,
E x

I wouldn't narrow your choice down to one just yet. It is a very competitive business and I would apply to several agencies if I were you. Then if you get offered any auditions go alone to them, it is much easier to get a feel for an agency when you have met them. What's right for one child may not be for another (you only have to read the Mark Jermin thread to see that!) If you are lucky enough to be offerd representation by more that one, you can make your choice then. If you read the threads about agencies on here you will see that quite often people do not even get replies from their applications. Also many agencies only open their books for new talent for a few weeks a year and it may be that the ones you are interested in are not accepting submissions at the moment.
I know someone who applied to dozens of agencies last year and only had a reply from one, which said thanks but no thanks. 6 months later she applied to 4 of them again, didn't get a reply from 2 (one of whom was the one who had replied last time) and got an invitation to 1 audition, then heard nothing after the audition.
This year she applied to 2 and got an audtion at both, but still no representation.
I'm sure there are many on this site who have had similar experiences, applying is no guarentee to getting representation, even for the very experienced, with high profile work under their belt. One young man who had been in Harry Potter had difficulty getting representation last year I seem to remember.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
That definitely applies to us - my DD is not very experienced but has been in two professional theatre productions; one West End, one tour, and we have only just found representation (which we are very happy with - Daisy and Dukes). I applied to many - Abacus (who I don't think have opened their books for some time), Sylvia Young, Mark Jermin - and just didn't hear back.francescasmum wrote:I'm sure there are many on this site who have had similar experiences, applying is no guarentee to getting representation, even for the very experienced, with high profile work under their belt. Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Thank you for your replies. I am definitely going to apply to both but I just wanted some information on both on them and which is actually better, just in case we get lucky.
I have read the Mark Jermin thread and am horrified by some of the stories on there. The two that I have listed both seem to be amazing agencies, but I would like as much information as possible.
Are there any other 'front runners' out there for modelling at the moment?
Is Kids London Ltd a sole rep. agency?
Thanks,
E x

Yes Kids London is a sole rep agent.
Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
So does that mean that you cannot be with an agency that specialising in acting, not modelling, as well? Sorry, I must sound really dumb but I am new to all this and am very confused with what I can see on StarNow (lots of children with an acting based agent AND B&B / KL)Mimi-cat wrote:Yes Kids London is a sole rep agent.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
NO, Kl is sole for modelling only. If you have an ACTING only agent-( like Abacus, A&J etc) then Sue at KL will allow you to have have them as an acting agent & you can be sole for modelling with KL. You cannot have a modelling& acting agent( like BoBe) & then have KL too. Hope that makes sense.
Oh I should say you can be COMPLETELY SOLE with KL, & have no other acting agent & then KL will also put you forward for TVCs etc,, You have to tell KL if you have an Acting only agent, & then they dont sent you for any acting work.

Maybe they haven't updated their profiles?emypeach wrote:So does that mean that you cannot be with an agency that specialising in acting, not modelling, as well? or they think they can get away with it?
I wouldn't take what you see on Starnow profiles as your basis - check with the agents.
Agents WILL find out eventually if you are pulling a fast one as casting call lists often come in with other children from various agencies on, and that is a sure fire way to completely pee off your agent!

KL are sole for photographic but Sue does allow you to have an agent purely for acting. We were submitted for tvc and photographic with KL even though they knew we had an acting agent also.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Mimi-cat, what does you acting agency think of that?
Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Several of you have highlighted about BoBe and and Acting agents. So many BoBe kids have several agents and despite BoBe saying they are sole rep its still goes on. It seems to be those that work a lot who are allowed to get away with it. It upsets quite a few others and keeps their children unemployed and the favoured ones with bigger and bigger CVs. Its very unfair. You know who you are. One rule for one and another rule for others.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
I don't think that's fair. BoBe is a relatively new agency, and when she was starting out and was building up her client base and was mainly extras/commercial work she was happy to accept clients who already had acting agents, so those that have both may well have been with her from the start. Now she is well-established and successful and putting up clients for all types of roles it makes sense that for new clients she is sole rep.In4aPenny wrote:Several of you have highlighted about BoBe and and Acting agents. Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
I agree with Selina2. Several agencies did not requiire sole representation when they started up but have changed their rules as they have expanded. When my dd joined Chilli kids she did not need to be sole but a friend's dd joined 4 months later and she did. At the time dd was with another agent who only put her forward for films and TV programmes where as Chilli kids was mainly adverts/photo. Chilli has grown a great deal since then and cover all types of casting now I believe. DD's current agent is sole but we know of at least two well known actors on their books who has another agent too so they probably joined in the agencies infancy.
