Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
I see your point. However there are several more recent recruits (including some taken on in last 6 months) who have other big agents. It must be hard for a busy Agent to chbeck this things out fully. BoBe have had a massive recruitment drive in last 6 months. Lets hope they do find out who is with other agents. Or change the rules so its not one rule for some. A level playing field would be a fairer system.
Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
A level playing field would definitely be a fairer system, but I think it is possible to drive oneself mad in this profession trying to fight against the unfairness! Unfortunately there are countless things within the profession that are not fair at all. It's also true that things can look really unfair from one perspective, but that decisions have been made for perfectly understandable business reasons.
I do believe in challenging rudeness and discrimination in life, but I like to be sure of my ground before I start. It's often not possible to see the whole picture, especially in an industry where decision making is so subjective. I don't think there is any rule that says every client has to have exactly the same contract, whether that is with an agency or in terms of employment. It may be possible to negotiate more favourable terms - if agents are keen to have clients on board for whatever reason, they may be happy to negotiate.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Good points from PG
I just look at my own DS and we are sticking to the rules, those was them when I signed up and I knew the score.
Of course I would love it to be fair( whatever that means lol) I would for example like DS to be with a separate voice over agency , but I can't .
If people are sneaky! Then bad on them and they will get found out, it's a risk they are prepared to take I guess.
If they have permission for dual representation from any of the agents, then good luck to them!
I personally can just about keep up with what I get from one let alone juggling two or more!
I do feel that starnow is no basis to glean info from ;-D

i still have to change my ds's agent on starnow.... i think its hard to always keep info up to dat
Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
All fair points and good to read different perspectives and yes you are right PG, its a very unfair industry. Wow, so some people will have 'permission' to be with several agencies - well that explains it then. Lucky them.
Oh bless you Sophies Socks, you must have been concerned that others would think you had several agencies too.
It is a good idea to update other websites with old agencies on though.
Its great to debate these things on here and get a clearer mind and all round view on things
I hope Emypeach has come to a decision. Emypeach you can always ask all the agents you approach whether they are equally spread for acting and modelling - if that is what your DD wants to do. Good luck.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Thank you to everyone for all your constructive points and opinions.
Is B&B as good for acting as it is for modelling? Is it actually that good for modelling?
Are there any other good agencies out there at the moment? Apparently Kids London is not as good as it used to be, neither is Elisabeth Smith or Urban Angels. I am reluctant to join a small one like Grace and Galor because I am concerned that it might not get the jobs that others get, just because it is small. Anyone got any information on Bruce and Brown?
I have heard that Daisy and Dukes are good at the moment, but they are still relatively new. DD's friend is with them, but has not had that many castings. How are their acting and modelling departments compared to others?
Thanks,
E x

Thank you. Still doing research because I want to be sure in what I am doing. I will definitely ask the agencies, thank you.

Ouch!!! With friends like you and all that?!?!?!?DD's friend is also not that pretty or talented so it might be to do with that.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and child modelling isn't (at least, I'd hope) always about the prettiest face...
Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Ooh emypeach, I hope you didnt mean that to sound as it comes over! You could have the most gorgeous child in the world, but if they wont lift their head up to smile at the camera or take direction for an advert then they are not going to get any work. D&D also have audition days where she meets and sees the children so I am sure she wouldnt have taken on your DD's not pretty or talented friend unless she saw something in her!emypeach wrote:* DD's friend is also not that pretty or talented so it might be to do with that. But that makes me wonder about the people that they take on...

If you look at Agency FB pages or their websites such as KL or B&B you will see the standard and types of work they are getting and most parents would be proud for their kids to get such jobs I am sure. KL and Urban Angels are still getting super jobs, obv the maths is that if before there were only 6 top agencies and now there are say 12 then the workload of the original 6 wont be as great as it was but in this tough business they are doing well to have the clients they do. Whilst you want to get it right re which agency for your daughter it really is the other way around - these agencies have the pick of children so as others have said I really would apply to some before you start to worry about which one to choose. Your DD is also at that difficult age where they will probably be highly oversubscribed at that age group and there are not a lot of jobs around for that age group so you already have that against you as well. Good luck anyhow, and I have no connection with any of the above agencies btw

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
You will get a million Answers to a million questions, we all have different experiences some good, some bad,( I have had a few) yet others not, and with the same agent.
No one can give you a definitive recommendation and neither should we
I think you just have to go with what appeals to you , it may not work, hopefully it will, you have to put a toe in the water to find out,
You could post and post asking for opinions on every agent, I don't think that is the way to go, you must have favourites and all you can do is make the choice based On what suits you.
I am getting a little weary of these agency threads, I understand why peoe are posting but I feel the repetition is driving me slightly bonkers "and for that reason - I'm out"
In the nicest possible way of course!

Well Said!! I seem to remember a while ago someone mentioned the possibility of having a recommended/ reputable agency list posted on NAPM( Basically omiting the Scam agencys)..Just like they have for modelling agencys on Netmums... It would certainly save a lot of time & repetative discussion..You will get a million Answers to a million questions, we all have different experiences some good, some bad,( I have had a few) yet others not, and with the same agent.

Re: Bonnie and Bettie vs Kids London Ltd
Personally I think sometimes it's abit about trial and error. Some agencies work better for your child and you (some are very personal and keep you up to date whilst others only speak to you when absolutely neccessary) and I think its sometimes down to personal judgement.
Like people have said firstly find an agent prepared to take your child on, if there are a few then go visit them and get an idea of what they are like, look at their websites and facebook pages if they have one.
We have moved agencies quite a few times, my children are with different ones as what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.
Therefore I would find it impossible to recommend one agency as I think it's a personal choice.
