London calling

Post by Buchaill9 »

My DS recently successfully got the1st Amy Winehouse scholarship to attend the SYTS atMarble Arch. I urgently needto get usmoved up from MK before the startof the Sept school year. Does anyone know of/or have themselves, a room or two that I could rent for us temporarily, while our house sells, and we get sorted? thanks all.

Cangratulations to your DS ! What an achievement ! mASSIVE!! =D>
And I really admire you for moving to London to be with him as its not something I could or would want  to do,
I think maybe the school itself would be the best place to start if no answers forthcoming from here?
They must have plenty of people with rooms, or who travel in .. etc
I am sure there must be SY mums on here who can point you in the right direction
Good luck!

Congratulations! What a massive achievement and what a brilliant adventure for all of you! =D> =D>

As Riverdancefan suggests, the school has probably dealt with this many times before, so they are probably a good first point of call.

If that doesn't wok out, or you want to consider alternatives, there is a company called Access Accommodation that rents student apartments. They may be able to help. Or if you google 'home stay' there are many people who rent rooms in their houses that might suit you.

Good luck!

Congratulations! We know quite a few kids who go to SY, they all have a wonderful time. Some of them come from families away from London and they do the foster family thing, all seems to work very well - incase you do consider just yr DS going. =D>

Hi Ds goes to SY and stays at a boarding house when he has shows/rehearsals. There are a few options of boarding houses where quite a few of the SY kids stay during the week. PM if you want more details

the scholarshio doesn't cover boarding or travel costs, so the op may have decided a wholesale move more financially viable

Thanks to you all for your support and advice. Still seeking the elusive job, but have had a couple of offers of temporary accommodation from friends, till we get sorted. Thanks again.
