Auditon Monologue A & J Management

Post by sXOX »

Hi everyone

I applied to A & J management and they've asked me to send them a tape of me doing a short monologue! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be appropriate? Most of the monologues I know are for theatre as opposed to TV and film so I'm not sure how to find a good naturalistic monologue! I'm a 17 year old female if that helps!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

My 17 year old daughter did a monologue from Road, and after a further meeting was accepted by her current agent, she does TV and film but chose this stage play as it has some strong pieces in it. I think it is fine to use plays - good luck x

Like a virgin by Gordon steel, its about a girl who has terminal cancer and she is angry at her friend for telling her to 'live a little'. However it has got swearing in it so you might not want to use it.
The power of the dog by Ellen Dryden
Or you could go more classical and do one from An ideal husband by Oscar Wilde

You could look at plays by Charlotte Jones or Amy Rosenthal perhaps (there are some good pieces in Henna Nights).

You are quite right to be looking for something "non-theatrical", but as long as you choose a play written in the modern idiom you should be ok. It doesn't need to be long and you can cut and paste various bits together.

You could always send it again on the off chance that it slipped through the net or maybe caught them at a very busy time!!!
If you have no reply the second time then i would assume that maybe it was a no this time but i would give it one more try to be sure!
