I did vote Comedy (or it is supposed to be a secret ;) ). This thing of the poll is very nice. Shall we do a poll sometime between ourselves? Best agency? Best CD? Actually why not do a NAPM award with different categories. Most useful post, funniest one, most fantastic member....

Teacher hat on.

Primary data is observed or collected directly from first-hand experience. Data from friends, colleagues and internet sourced is called secondary data. So this won't help him if he needs to collect primary data. He would need to talk to people, and probably even add in the categories as people supply the data, rather than prescribe a list. To qualify as primary data he'd also need to consider who they are, their ages and backgrounds or the data is simply supportive (hence, secondary).

I like his initiative for using this forum! =D>

I thought secondary was using previously gathered and/or used data or information rather than first hand collected? Happy to be shot down if I am wrong! #-o

Good Luck with his GCSE. ;)

Primary data has to be qualitative and quantitive. It's data that can be verified and is accurate. In this case, the data has a number of problems that prevent it being used as primary data. Mainly because the people who contribute their opinion are unknown. Add to this that apart from me, I think everybody is female - so the data collected is biased towards a single sex. We also have an age range, because most people are mums, so that sets a bottom and possibly a top age group too. The main trouble though, is that nobody actually knows, and that is what firmly pops it into the secondary (also sometimes called supportive) data area. Primary data has to be robust and reliable. Internet polls are good for fun, for getting impressions to see if your ideas firm up, and for interest.

We now have the petitions that you can add your name to that go to 10 Downing Street. If you've filled them in, you'll know that they need to know exactly who you are - same reason. If they cannot categorise you, your opinion just doesn't count!
