Hi Misspatricia
Thank you very much for your reply this has really helped sorry it was a 2 year course and going into year 12.
So if you do get through to the next round do you mean that they choose the acting pieces and the songs for
DD to do or is it something of your own choice.
Also should she wear normal dance clothing and take all her shoes with her.
Kind Regards

Yes,The school gives you a list of songs and acting pieces to choose from, and yes bring you're normal dancewear- most people wear leggings&leotards or tracksuits and loose t shirts. You can bring jazz shoes, some people where them and some don't- others go in bare feet.

Songs used before are usually on the lines of Les miserables "On my own", Hairspray "I can hear the bells" And a selection of songs from the lion king, grease, My fair lady, and Wicked. Acting and song pieces do change regularly when my DD started her first year at Brit they choose contemporary monologues while last year the musical theatre and theatre (auditiones) had to peform a shakespear piece.

Is youre audition workshop soon?

:) X

Hi
Sorry to trouble you all again but can anybody tell me what the 2 year btec course is like at the Brit School?
when I have searched on the site it all seems to be about the normal school and not for the over 16s.
It just helps when you know somebody that has been there or is still there now.
We all just want to do the best for our children but this is such a minefield and one I would not like to do again
if possible.
I hope everybody else that has auditions or are awaiting results gets the news they want to hear.

Hi, we are also waiting to hear from BRIT school as my daughter (she's 14) has applied for a place in Year 10 (Musical Theatre). We are out of catchment so odds stacked against us but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Waiting to find out if they will audition her. Good luck to everyone applying.

Hi
I too am very excited for my DD as she to has a recall for the 2 year course, we only got the letter today choosing the song as we speak
DD has already chosen her monologue out of the 2 choices.
Thankfully she has a dance already once less thing to think about.
I would not worry about being out of the catchment area as I think that we had travelled the furthest on the day of the audition.
We are way out of the area so was surprised that we even got to attend the workshop.
I hope you all here good news it would be lovely to meet some of you if the children were on the same day.

Well done to your dd, I wonder how many are being recalled? Will you find accommodation locally if you get an offer? My dd said she met girls from as far away as Newcastle. Great opportunity for them. Good luck with the preparation.

Hi Sweep

No she will travel by train every day this is something she is used to although this trip is a little bit longer than what she does at the moment.
All the best and good luck

Wait on my dd letter it says nothing about coreagraphing my own dance, just about a workshop? Are you in year 9 or year 11? :?
