Oooo - please let me know about the audition and how many they take (have heard that some Universities take a lot of students but I don't think Arden is one of them).

Good luck for the audition:)

Hi all,
Dd has GSA audition in manchester tomorrow. Anybody been this week and can offer any extra insight into what they want from you? She has just been told to bring one song and it will take an hour.

Hello Showtunes,
my dd auditioned for GSA a few weeks ago. sadly she didnt get through so i dont know what they were looking for. i would advise her to practice Over the rainbow though as they asked some girls to sing it in order to hear the "line of their voice".
Good luck!

Well that's GSA done, 9 of them in my dd's group. They all sang one song each, apparrantly the panel were "gloomy"! Doesn't bode well as my dd song was a funny one so obviously they were not impressed. Although she says they didnt say a word to anyone. They said they would let them know in two weeks if they get a recall. She isn't expecting anything though from it. She loved the summer school she did there last year and would loved to have gone there. It's such a shame the audtion doesn't give them a chance to showcase more of their talent. But I suppose they know what they are doing.

Fingers crossed for you Showtunes and all the auditionees. Sounds quite gruelling. Well done for giving it a go. I think I heard there were 2000 that went for the open audition spots for A Chorus Line...for 2 places in the show. Oh my! Probably a good thing the training auditions are tough as it sounds like a very very competitive world.

Hi Showtunes my dd said pretty much the same. I think to be honest they see so many that it must become a bit of a chore on the first round auditions as they dont have a chance as you say to show what they can do. My dd was at the 10.15am slot. Having read the site last night I told her to brush up on over the rainbow just in case but she said that no one was asked to sing anything else just the one song. She says they were told they were auditioning about 250 today and also some in Guildford today as well. If recalled it would be in March. She says they got the chance to ask questions but forgot to ask how many places they had offered so far. They presumably must have offered some by now . If only there was some other way to do it or know when you are auditioning how many places are left. It really is a bit soul destroying although as many say its good that it doesnt gloss over that it is easy but whilst I appreciate that they want to take what they consider is the best because so many are applying for the same courses it is extremely hard on or kids and us parents. My dd takes it all philosophically (better than me as I feel so sad for her  ) and has now pretty much given up for this year which is so frustrating because she will come out of her B.Tech Level 3 MT course with distinctions and distinction stars but they dont count for anything. Anyway good luck to your dd showtunes I am pleased she has got a place at Chichester it looks a good course and she will certainly try for it next year I think and good luck to everyone elses dcs

Thanks Dorothy. My dd has got two more to go,mountview, which she isn't keen in going to now and manchester Arden college in march. She is also coming to the end of her b tech level 3 MT course and has loved it. A perfect grounding for what comes next in their training I think. A couple of her college friends havant got in anywhere yet but are planning in applying to chichester and Blackpool through clearing which I think you can do now. So it's definitely not too late for uni applications for your dd. Good luck.

Don't give up!! My Dd did not get in first time round - second year she got 3 offers of places and 2 reserve places :) She is now in the middle of her 3rd year in Central. If it is definitely what your DCs want to do then a gap year often helps.

Anybody who has had a dc go for an audition at mountview. Could you give us some idea how long my dd is likely to be there on the day? It starts at 10.30 but no idea of a approx finishing time. Just looking at train times and as the audition is over the Easter hols the prices are horrendous!
