Hi guys my dd short film is on imbd and they would like to link her name to it or something my question is I can't seem to set up an account for her does it need to be a pro account .....when I tried to register it said she did not meet the criteria or something help please

Yes, there will need to be an IMDB Pro account set up in order to add detail to listed projects.

I've just been looking into this as DS was just in a short film. From http://pro.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?eligibilitytopfaq it doesn't look as if whether or not you pay for IMDBPro is an issue (though perhaps it is if you want to include a photo - I haven't got that far yet). If the production has an IMDB entry, it looks to me as if anyone who has an onscreen credit is entitled to a listing.

Yes, you only pay if you want to add photo, CV etc - the free account will let company's add your credits - I know this is the case as my 3 children all have accounts

Yes, the production company will need to have the pro account and add all the details including the actors credits. Even if you have a personal Pro account, you can't add details unless they have been verified by the production listing......I think.

An IMDB credit just means that his name will be listed as a cast member (against the name of the character in the film). Its value to your ds as an actor is debatable. If they are using it as an enticement/attraction (especially if it's the only one!) then to be honest that would make me a little bit wary.
My opinion, based on my limited, peripheral knowledge of IMDB and the British film industry.
IMDB started as a fan site for films and has grown to be a widely consulted database recording who has been involved with something that appears on screen.
It is not widely used in this country as a casting resource, not compared to Spotlight. If a CD or director is already considering you then he/she might look at IMDB - but that won't be to assess your ability/suitability. It is often used if actors or others are trying to find out what directors/producers/crew have done (so you can certainly use it to look up the production company for this film)! It is used more in the US - though seems to be more relevant when people have an established career so that the producer can see what sort of pulling power/commercial appeal an actor may have.
It might well be consulted by a CD if there are doubts about an actor making something up on their CV - as it is the production company that enters the details. The CD will be experienced enough to make a judgement on the level/importance of the credit too. Actors who exaggerate the importance/prestige of something can be caught out by IMDB listings. These days, so many people have appeared "in films" that a name of a film on a CV won't tell them much - but looking at who else was involved in the film, what sort of film/production company it was and what has happened to it will tell them a lot.
Spotlight is still the main database used by CDs for actors.
"Unpaid but IMDB credit" seems to be something that quite a few film makers say to actors. I take this with a pinch of salt. In fact, if I were feeling belligerent (who, moi?
) I might be inclined to ask what difference they think that makes to the offer and see what they say. It's quite nice to have - but it's unlikely on its own to advance your career in any way.
I would never recommend taking on an unpaid film role "for the IMDB credit" - there very definitely needs to be more in it than that for the actor.
