Heard today that dd is on the reserve list at the Arden. Not sure what to expect now as it didn't say how far up the list she was etc. Think I will ring them tomorrow to ask a few details. I know we have till 8th May to accept/decline her offer at chi uni. So whiles its not a no it's not a yes either.
Anyone with any experience of being on a reserve list?
DD was on the reserve list for LIPA last year ... she was no. 3 and got offered a firm place in May ... if she rings up they will be able to tell her more. Well done
Thanks Sapphire. What happens though if she needs to reply to her other choice before she hears if she has a place at her reserve one
showtunes wrote:Nigelben, your Ds should hear soon hopefully. My dd told me this morning that someone on her course who had a friend who applied to man met heard today. He went about 3 weeks ago for his audtion.
Thanks for that Showtunes, ds knows that one of the boys he got to know at the recall heard on Friday and sadly it was a no and someone else apparently heard over a week ago got a yes, so not sure if it will be good news for ds, heres hoping but he's now looking to his Bristol Old Vic audition this Friday.
I think I would call manchester met now Nigelben as you still havant heard anything and others have. Perhaps say its been over the time they said it would be and you wondered if they had missed him out by mistake?
i agree probably a good idea to give them a call as I expect some times ocassionaly ones slip through the net with the volume of numbers that apply. My dds friend did her first round audition with GSA the same time as my dd and you heard quite quick if it was a no but had to wait a bit longer if you got a recall. When myy dd heard she had a recall her friend didnt so she waited a bit longer and rang them and asked and she then heard via UCAS it was a no so it is possible to be missed out.
Anyway hope its yes and good luck to your ds with BOV
That's brilliant new Showtunes, well done to your DD
DS also got to know a girl who was at his recall and she hasn't heard yet, they seem to be sending decisions out very randomly!! Man Met let you know on UCAS whatever the outcome, it could be a yes, no or further interview. Hopefully it won't be too long now, if DS hasn't heard by Thursday I think we will give them a ring, I can imagine with the volume of applicants mistakes can be made.
Thanks Dorothy for the good wishes for BOV, we live in Bristol so at least no long journeys or overnight stays!

She really needs to ring them and ask what happens. DD didn't want to accept any of her other offers so it wasn't a problem, but if memory serves LIPA actually gave her a no and then she had to accept an offer eventually through EXTRA ... so it may be possible she could provisionally accept Chichester and then if she got into Arden she would reject that and they would make her an offer. DD found the admissions team at LIPA really helpful. Just give them a call and find out how they work their system! Would the Arden be her first choice?

The admission team at the Arden say my dd is on the reserve list, she hasn't got a number as such on the list, there is just very few of them on there which if a place became available the course tutors would then look at and pick a student. Auditions are not over yet so she says to call back late April to check if we havant heard anything yet. So we just wait now. She would consider a place there but does still like chi uni.
It's really interesting reading about everyone's experiences so far. My DD has offers from Cumbria (drama performance and musical theatre performance) and Chichester (musical theatre triple threat), has decided not to auction for Colchester (musical theatre) even though she applied initially, got rejected from LIPA after a recall, and has Central in a couple of weeks.
It's all so stressful!
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!

Hi Alison. Welcome to the site. Congrats on your DD's offers so far Which place did she like best out of her offers so far. My dd also has a place at chi uni for triple threat.
It was a no from Man Met, emailed them to today and UCAS notification came through this evening, just as DS waiting to see Olly Murs in Birmingham!! They all seem so resilient though which is great and required in this cruel business, just wish these schools would get their answers out sooner especially when dc are told when they will get their results by. He wasn't downhearted and has always thought that he probably will not get in this year as it is his 1st year of trying and not 18 until July, all good experience-if expensive-still has 3 to go.
Well done for the offers Robsmumma and AlisonB, that's great and good luck to all who still have auditions. Completely agree AlisonB, a very stressful time!!
Chichester - She loved Chi right from the beginning! The head of music there (Ben Hall) went to her school and did a talk to the MT students all about the course and she decided to go to the open day, loved it and was absolutely overjoyed to get an offer.
Cumbria - it was kind of a last minute decision to apply here, so hasn't been to an open day or anything before the audition but we all liked it. It felt like a long way from home though (we are in Kent) but if she had no other offers she would have even more than happy to go.
Colchester - she was in 2 minds about thisbut decided to apply and then think again. Anyway having got offers from Cumbria and Chi she has decided not to audition
Central - she loved the open day here. I went with her and we both thought it felt like a bigger, more dynamic version of her school (she goes to the BRIT school) and she would love to go here. Audition is on 4th April. Neither of us think she'll even get a recall but she wants to give it a go!
LIPA - loved this place too (again a bit like a big BRIT school). She got a recall but didn't get any further.
The 'problem' is that her acting is the best of her 3 disciplines and she has her heart set on MT . She needed to be realistic (we can't afford mountview, arts ed etc) and she needed to apply for places which played to her acting strength while still satisfying her desire for MT .
Phew - sorry, that was a bit if a saga!
Showtumes - what will your DD decide do you think ?
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!

That's a shame for your DS Nigelben, but he sounds like he has a good sensible attitude to all of this audition lark. And just getting a recall there is great in itself. They have to have such a thick skin to cope with all the knock backs. A girl at college with my dd has had 4 rejections so far this year for musical theatre, she has become so upset about it that she has cancelled her final two auditions, dropped her singing lessons and has had a career change completely.Such a shame.
Good luck to your Ds with his other auditions.Onewards and forever upwards!
Thanks Showtunes, yes, he is so much more laid back about it than me!! He goes to a really good workshop where the teacher really instills to them that it is unlikely they will even get a recall the first year round and to just take it as good experience, so ds is pleased he has had at least one recall. That's sad about your dds friend, I can imagine how it must feel, ds asked me to look on his UCAS to see what the result was as he was at this concert and when I got on it to see 4 unsuccessfuls out of 5 must be very disheartening, he has one left on UCAS for MT at GSA the other 2 auditions he has are outside of UCAS.
