My ds is in his second year doing Musical Theatre at Arts Ed. Think they are looking for potential at audition so I am not sure that grades are vital. They want to see if you can pick up the moves more than whether you are an accomplished dancer. My ds had done very little dance before auditioning and is not what I would call a natural dancer. Going to see the various colleges' showcases is a good move and the more experience you can get will be a help when auditioning. Also, know the full story when selecting your monologues. Find out about the people behind the scenes in the shows. I know of somebody who said that their favourite show was Phantom and were then asked what they thought about the new choreographer which they weren't expecting. The good thing is that your dd has done the rounds this year so knows what to expect next year. Good luck.

It is an unfortunated fact however tha audition panels are more forgiving of boys' dance abilities than girls :(. That is because there are just so many girls out there with grate dance ability and who have done dance for years. With boys the numbers are far fewer so, they are more likely to take a chance on potential. The numbers regarding girls are quite depressing - lots more girls than boys audition (esp for MT) and so the odds are far higher. It is also true at the end of training - there are far more parts for guys :(. Its an uphill task for everyone, but for girls I think its just that much harder.

However there are colleges that are more dance based than others. I know in Mountview you are divided into ability groups for the dance audition which suggests to me they are more likely to take on someone with less dance experience than some of the courses where they will expect auditionees to already have a high standard of dance.

Thank you Caroline and Welsh Mum, I've read both of your replies to my daughter, which has given her some tips and encouragement. We are off to SLP on Saturday, and will update you after this. I do enjoy these audition days (in a weird way!) Thanks again x

I know, how stressful is it? I ended up ringing yesterday because she had been awarded a DaDA elsewhere and they were pushing for a decision. They told me we would hear very soon and luckily we did!

Congratulations to your daughter- superb news. She must be absolutely thrilled.

Has she decided which to accept yet?

Enjoy the celebrations - both of you. Was worth the wait.

Can't remember who was asking if girls are being offered DaDas this year? .... good news for those worried. A friends daughter also offered two - she's quickly decided so as not to hold onto a place someone else can have.

Thanks. Lol she doesn't even have to think about it, she has always wanted to be a Lainey. Well thats my salary spent for the next three years! I am just so happy for her.
And as you say the other one will make someone very happy.
She is still waiting to hear from Conti, but she didnt really like it there anyway.

Lucky lucky girl.

Good luck to all those still waiting ♥

Robsmumma, does that mean your dd will release a place and a DaDa to be offered to someone else (possibly two people)?I'm not looking forward to my dd getting to the age where we have to go through this, it is so donfusing, however I have 6 or 8 years to get to grips with this thread so I should be an expert by then!
Well done to aqll those who have got places (and DaDas). Enjoy. =D>

A girl from dd's dance school posted in the facebook group today that she has an offer with funding for Bird College. The post sounded like she had more than one offer do she had to decide which to accept.

Hi All,

Has anyone heard from Mountview about dada funding yet or does anyone know when they will be allocating it?? Dd has an offer from Conti but is holding out for mountview but we don't know when they review their allocations.

Thanks
