Lion King Tour

Post by sundogs »

Hello! I'm completely new to this forum.
My younger brother (8 years old) is soon to be joining the Lion King Tour which is very exciting.
We are not your typical performing arts family at all and stumbled into this amazing opportunity by chance.
I was just wondering if anybody can offer their insight into what to expect over the next few months and what to avoid doing.
He will be living at home for the first leg and then travelling very far from home!

Anybody with experience touring - I would really appreciate your input.
Also, what is the quality of the tuition? We don't want him to fall behind with school work!

Thank you :)

Thanks so much riverdancefan for the kind words! We are completely shocked and delighted - got an e-mail from his teach about an open audition, turned up expecting it to take an hour max (you can probably tell how inexperienced we are) and was there for over 7 because of all the callbacks - 9 days later get a call and that's where we are now, trailing through paperwork and getting very excited :)

just you wait until you see him on stage - can you bottle that feeling for me and let me have a little drop of it - really there is nothing like it in the whole wide world !!!
can't wait to hear you describe your feelings ... \:D/ \:D/

I know from friends that children are looked after incredibly well by experienced chaperones who really are surrogate Mum, confidante, nurse, nagger (but only as a parent would) lol and general protector

Oh what lovely news :D Congratulations to your brother and welcome to the forum sundogs !

Obviously no one on here as been on tour with the Lion King as this is its first tour, but some parents posted about their children's experiences on the Sound of Music tour on this thread (you have to be logged in to read it as it is in the musical theatre auditions section) http://www.notapushymum.com/phpbb/viewt ... 6&start=90 its page 7&8 mainly.
Maybe some of those parents may post on here about their experiences - further back there were members whose children went on tour with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and May Poppins....
So has he done any time at Cub School (I think it is called)? We have had members on here in the past whose children went to Cub School, I think
He could go and he could shine, not just stay here counting time,
Son, we've got the chance to let him live

Thank you for this information I'll be sure to have a look :)
He hasn't attended Cub School no just a series of callbacks.
