What do you think are the best dance colleges?

A place to talk about full time schools and post 16 training.

My son is going to Urdang in September and I was just wondering where you'd rank Urdang compared with other schools.
I seriously am so new to this and don't have a clue so please bare with me.
I just want to make sure it's a good enough place you know. Thanks :) :D

I don't know how you would rank Urdang compared to the other dance colleges or even how as each college has its strengths and different places suit different people. What I can say is congratulations to your son. There must be literally hundreds of students who applied and did not get a place this year. Two of DD's friends applied this year and were unsuccessful, although one had offers elsewhere. Urdang is a popular college and course and like all the dance colleges it is hard to get a place. Looking at graduate destinations will give you an idea of where the students end up but personally I think your son has done really well.

Good luck to him for September.

Hi there,
Congratulations and well done to your ds.
I don't have any first hand knowledge of Urdang as my dd only auditioned for ballet schools. Speaking to other 'dance' mums over the years however, Urdang was regarded as a very good choice. A friend's dd is coming to the end of her 1st year there and has been very impressed with the training she has received so far.
Looking at their most recent list of graduate destinations, students have gone on to secure good quality contracts.
Sorry I can't be of any more help :(
I wish your ds all the best for the future. His time there will fly by and then graduation looms and the real worries start :)
My advice would be wine, wine and more wine (for you, not him) ;)

Hi Danceismylifeok

I don't think you should have any worries about Urdang....it is considered one of the best London colleges to go to at the moment, and they have an excellent graduate employment record. If you look through the cast biographies for any of the West End shows you will find former Urdang students listed all the time!

Congratulations to your DS....he will have a ball!!

Huge well done to your ds.

I think like others have said if you look in the programmes for the west end shows you get an idea of where the best colleges to go are and Urdang is definitely up there at the moment so I would say you have nothing to worry about.

It will be one we will be looking at in a few years so maybe you could let us know how he gets on :D
Bring it on!!!
