Yes...of course! Why wouldn't they? They take their commission, but the rest comes to the DCs.

Isn't it illegal not too? Both of my kids agencies take their commission first but rest comes straight into DCs bank accounts. I don't even get to see it, just the invoice. I would seriously question whether it's legal for an agency to get fees for a client and not pass them on - what does your contract say?

Im confused. Are you asking if agents get money for sending people to auditions???
My DS has been to lots of auditions but is never paid for going. I would have thought you get paid if they get the job?

Just had another thought - do you'd mean if there is a fee paid for attending the casting? If so, I'm not sure we've ever attended any casting that was a paid casting or recall - but if they were I'm sure the fees would still be passed on minus the agency commission.

Most castings have a casting fee, it's not much normally about £18 after agency commission. If there isn't a fee for the casting our agency tells us before we go. Iv'e only been to 3 that haven't paid. Maybe your agency is the one I read about on here that doesn't pass on casting fees CatKat?

Some castings offer a small amount for attending but usually only a recall fee however is isn't the case with all castings. It's usually about £18. The fee is invoiced by the agent however the whole fee should be passed directly to the child/parent after all they are the ones who fork out the cash to get to and from the castings and in my opinion that's what it's there for. Maybe they should start giving it out in cash upon attending the audition?

Our posts crossed over.
Most castings aren't paid....and it's usually TVC castings who will offer a fee at a recall stage. The CD advises on the spotlight brief if there is a casting or recall fee. Film and TV castings don't usually offer any casting fees

So today my DS went to an audition that I had said he wasn't able to attend as both of us as parents were working and couldn't change our shifts. She was adamant so asked for a chaperone to take him on train and back. She said I should pay train fare for my DS and chaperone and also we arranged to split a small fee to the chaperone for her time. She was only 18 years old. Are you NAPM people saying that the agent was paid for my DS to attend?

Hard to say as some don't have a casting fee. Wev'e had about 15 castings for various modelling/tvc's and 1 film and all but 3 had a fee, we havent had any tv castings though so have no idea about them, and i'm guessing theatre ones arent paid either? The fee doesnt cover travel costs (well not mine anyway) but does help towards it. Hope it went well for him.

As above not all castings have casting fees and usually its just on a recall that a fee is offered if at all. The agent is given the detail of who to invoice and for how much if its relevant. I would check with your agent in any case if it was a TVC casting.

Hi
My dd has been to many tvc auditions and has always been paid, which is about £18 and results in about £13.50-£14 after deductions. If there is a recall, she gets a check for about £38 after deductions. This has only been for tvcs though, from big companies-supermarkets,newspapers,fast food chains, catalogues, that kind of thing. This is because those companies pay for audition fees and recall fees, but the money should go to the actor and the agent takes their percentage.I'm pretty sure it's illegal if the agent is taking money for your child to turn up to an audition. She has not received any auditon fees for any other castings,ie workshop auditions, films, west end stuff, just the tvc stuff.I think this is pretty standard isnt it?

I seem to have started a debate. My DC has never recd audition or recall fees and has attended commercial castings in the past. I actually wanted the mums to PM me the agents name as I am researching to find my child a different agent for a number of reasons, this being one of them.I understand though if that's asking a bit much so will look at the agency annual award thread to read the ratings as such. Thanks lovely NAPM's
