Does the personal statement matter for performing arts?

Post by TotallycluelessMum »

Just wondering whether performing Arts colleges that use UCAS application look at the personal statement or if they audition everyone ( for a small fee ;) )
All very hypothetical as Dd just waiting on GCSE results but was pondering if you could apply for a mixture of PA/ uni places as well as those colleges not with UCAS.

I'm pretty sure they do look at the personal statement.

The audition will be the most important thing - but if the personal statement is stating how much you want to study Physics it's likely to raise some awkward questions in an interview.

It's worth checking precisely how each college organises its applications. Some schools that are maintained funding still have direct applications (I think). RADA certainly used to, for example.

Thanks for your wise words PG, think I can say without any fear of contradiction that physics is NOT on the cards
It's the old 'something to fall back on' argument between DH and DD (Uni + Mt Post Grad versus MT at college) I'm trying to find a middle ground where everyone's happy!
I'll probably end up irritating them both ](*,)
