P2P-Exciting Course free to under 19s

Post by Actnowcasting »

Hi Everyone

If you are having problems geting funding or are looking for a full time course that is more in your price range. P2P-Woking is based at Woking College.

Although the main course is opening in 2014 we have 10 funded places available for this year (14 Places have already been filled)

P2P-Woking has been created by Act Now Entertainment in association with Woking College with the aim to create a first class performance preparation vocational training course. P2P-Woking is supported by an outstanding faculty who have all had an active role in the industry.

IS THIS THE CORRECT COURSE FOR ME?

This course is aimed primarily at students thinking of applying for full-time accredited training at a Dance or Drama School or on a practical University course, giving each student an insight into what full-time training requires. During the year, you will attend foundation classes in essential technique, vocal & Physical anatomy, preparation to audition for colleges/universities and you will be offered additional masterclasses from Industry professionals and advice from Agents and Casting Directors.

SO WHAT IS THE COURSE FOR?

Technique classes are divided equally under the main headings: Acting, Dance and Singing, and are structured to build on and gradually combine the core skills in preparation for your further training in the field. We aim to create an environment which truthfully reflects that of a professional rehearsal space, based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared passion. Students learn from within a strong ensemble group whilst the individual is simultaneously nurtured. Throughout the year students will also develop their presentation skills and boost confidence – critical for auditions both for drama schools and for a successful career as a performer. The course leaders have vast experience and most have taight at GSA, Moutview, Arts Ed, Lamda and other well know courses

QUALIFICATIONS & EXAMS

Working in association with LAMDA and Trinity Laban , you will gain internationally-recognised Grades qualifications in Musical Theatre, Acting. Courses will range from Performing Shakespeare, Performing Text, Group and Individual Musical Theatre Exams and Group and Individual Acting Exams ( up to grade8/Diploma Level) You will also explore how an understanding of the social, cultural and historical contexts of plays informs the acting choices you make. There is also the option to take Individual Singing Exams up to Diploma Level. You could also study for the Arts Council Gold Arts Award which allows you to link your own Professional Development to the Industry, through research, reflection and work experience, whilst developing essential leadership skills. Many of these courses will gain you UCAS points, so if you are applying for a practical University based course you will be gaining valuable points to put onto your applications.

WHAT DO OUR GRADUATES GO ON TO DO AFTER THE COURSE?

Students under our artistic guidance have gone on to study at GSA, LAMDA, RADA, Julliard, AMDA, The Boston Conservatory, Italia Conti, Mountview, Arts Ed, Laine Theatre Arts, CSSD. Birds, Stella Mann and Urdang. Students progressing from the Performing Arts Department at Woking College have recently gained places at London Studio Centre, Mountview, LAMDA, Rose Bruford and Arts Educational, therefore the combined expertise of the staff, will allow for bespoke guidance when applying for the next stage of your training.

APPLYING FOR THE COURSE

If you will be between 16 and 19 years of age on the first day of the course, then you are eligible to apply and successful applicants with receive training absolutley free. There is no maximum age limit 20 and overs will have a fee. Overseas applicants are welcome but must be able to attend an audition in Woking and to show evidence at audition of an excellent command of spoken and written English. If you wish to apply, you will need to fill in an application form and send it in to us. If you would like more information on this please email

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR MY AUDITION?

To audition for P2P-Woking applicants will be expected to take part in a Movement Class. They would also need to prepare a musical theatre song with sheet music (no longer than 2mins) and a contemporary monologue (no longer than 2mins). They would then be interviewed by the Artistic Director to assess their suitability to take on the training. All applicants will hear within one week whether they have been offered a place, invited back for a recall, or declined entry.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER COSTS?

Yes. There is a reading list and a kit list of important items that students need to purchase before the first day of term. This will be issued on acceptance of a place. There will also be exam entry fees for your Lamda and Trinity Guildhall exmas.

For more information and to book an appointment/audtion please email mattchanz@aol.com or call 07718988295

Sounds perfect! My dd is currently going back into year 11 at Woking High School and intends to audition for vocational colleges during the coming year - her plan if unsuccessful at 16 was to do A levels at Woking College within the Performance Department but this sounds like it may be even more suited to her - will follow thread with interest and await website, are you able to confirm that this course is free?? :)
Also would application be via Woking College?

Hi

Thanks for your reply, yes the preferred age is 18 but as we are very much aware their are some young people who
do not wish to continue with A-Levels and we will make exceptions for that. As the age is 19 on the 31st August
each year this allows the 1 year course to still be free as its could be the gap year!

Regards
