Help needed finding triologues

By 21 year old DS needs to find a triologue for college and is finding it really difficult to actually find any. He would prefer it to be comedic - any ideas would be much appreciated.

How long does it need to be? Any specific ages /genders? Do the characters have to be young?

There is one of my plays on there that has a couple of possible triologues in it , not sure that they would be long enough - but only one of the characters is young.

I would think that Ayckbourn might be good hunting ground?

Is Huis Clos (No Exit - or sometimes "In Camera") by Sartre too obvious? Practically the whole thing is a triologue and there are some great power struggles in it. Two women one man.

Thanks for that pg - what is your play? Apparently it needs to be 2-3 minutes max, 21ish years with gender not important particularly. Oh and have just been told that it has to be a "published" trilogies! Will get ds to have a look at your suggestions and thanks once again.

The play is "Butter Side Up".

The scene I was thinking of is with an 18 year old and his mother and an older character though - so probably not suitable.

There is one other youngish character - but can't think of a good three-way scene with her and younger character really.

The play 'Art' is a triologue - the characters might be a bit old for your DS and friends, though.

There is also Monty Python's 3 Yorkshiremen, if sketches count and it's OK to be old and northern

Ooh. "Art" is a very good idea Flosmum! DS chose a speech from there for one of his audition speeches for drama school. He was too young for it really, but he loved it so much he decided it was the right one for him. Two friends from school chose "Art" as their Theatre Studies A level piece and he was allowed to help them out with it, even though he wasn't in the same year group. They've promised themselves to re-visit it when they are thirty. That must have seemed ancient to them then! The three of them co-founded "Three's Company" which is still going strong.

They've just finished in Edinburgh (without Son of PG who is otherwise occupied in Stratford) - one of Tom's plays has had a string of 5 star reviews - "Not the Messiah" (continuing the Monty Python theme ). It's a one man show though - so not suitable for your DS's needs.

Thinking about it, it might be worth checking out some of Tom Crawshaw's plays too...

His very first play, Platformation, was written for the three of them and is DEFINITELY a comedy I don't think it has been published though.
Two of his plays are on Stagescripts "Play on Words" - which is largely duologue, so probably wouldn't be suitable

Stagescripts is a good site because it allows you to search for "young cast" plays and "Fringe and College" - well worth a browse around.
