Good luck to everyone called back for this.

A while age, on another thread, we were discussing what happens in 'pre-production'. I don't know what has happened here, but it seems to be an example of time passing by, while pre-production things are going on in the background, and a casting opportunity resurfacing unexpectedly some time down the line.

From my tiny experience with Pandy's film (still scheduled to shoot in the October half term) I know that there is a tension between casting early on, to get some sense of certainly about the cast, and having to keep the cast 'on board' through changes and slippage, or casting late on, risking not finding the actors you want, but being able to give certainty about script and scheduling.

Glad I don't do this for a living!

We're another one who's been called back this week for another audition. We're a bit luckier as in the Bristol area already, so not too far to travel at all! About 5 called back from the 70 seen - DD very excited :) She's keen to do anything, even if it's just as a non-speaking extra - fingers crossed for all. [-o<

:D good luck everyone -
About 5 called back from the 70 seen
singdragon is that from 70 girls you saw at auditions or been told only 5 on callback altogether? Good odds for a NAPM then if only 5 being seen \:D/

We are about 2 hours from Bristol driving so going to make a day of it! :D

Just google - if it's the one funded by BFI it says:

Esther May Campbell is another BAFTA award winner (Outstanding Short Film for September, 2009), and internationally acclaimed with 10 other major awards. With a prolific career directing shorts, music videos and TV drama, including Skins and Wallander, Light Years is her first feature. Light Years, produced by Third Films, follows a day in the life of an eight-year-old girl in an intense journey to find her mother that is steeped in atmosphere, explores complex familial, socio-cultural and environmental issues, and has a pointed relevance to our time.

And there is more on-line.

Hope this helps

Oops - apologies, I confused you a little. That was 5 girls from the 70 seen at my children's Stagecoach classes, no idea how many called back over-all. Think I might have got your expectations up a little

Fingers crossed it is good news for the NAPM children though. Not entirely sure what my DD's been called back for, I can't see her carrying the main role (she's not got my DS' confidence for a start), so I was completely surprised she got the callback. She has just 1 scene to learn (reading for Rose), but it's all great experience in the end. Came at the perfect time too as DS just got a part in a local production of Oliver!, which DD didn't - she's not too bothered, but it's nice for her to be called back on something and not him for a change.

Good luck to all - can't wait to hear how they all do!

;) How did everyone's recalls go on Saturday? my dd said hers went well - she had to do 2 scripts and lots of improvisation - not sure how many they were seeing as the table in cafe was reserved from 10am until about 7pm? surely cant have been auditioning until 7pm? (maybe that was for their evening meal afterwards :D )

It was such a lovely day that we had to explore and go shopping - BUSY and huge! beautiful area though - :D

If anyone hears anything else please let us know :D

My daughter was so excited and came out beaming. Only read the one script though and did some impro. She was only in there for 15 mins so I'm guessing that's not good news.

She went in at 5pm. I saw an older boy before us and a younger boy after so I'm assuming call backs were for all roles.

Would be nice to hear something soon...either way.

I've just found out there are still auditions taking place. My daughters dance company has a number of girls auditioning for the first time on Nov 2nd. Guess this will be a long process.

Does anyone know who's directing or starring in this film? My DD went to an audition for it too - seems like they're seeing an abnormally huge number of children! 8-[

I haven't managed to find anything out I'm afraid. The lady that arranged the auditions for this group knows as much as we do.
