Application forms

Re: Application forms
Printed them on proper paper - I have a good quality printer as I work from home
Re: Application forms
But you could print them at Adsa or somewhere like that if you don't have a good enough printer
Re: Application forms
I'll have to do that, I think. I'm so not techy, so it could be interesting!
Re: Application forms
als17 - I'm with you - will take on home camera and print off in Boots, Laine told me it was purely for identification, although I know some colleges like to see positions. Ultimately I'm sure it will come down to audition and not the quality of your photography - hopefully anyway!!

Re: Application forms
Haha yes, I would hate to be the reason DD didn't get a look in! I have some photos that have been taken professionally which I'm allowed to use, so I need to get them on to my phone and then download them on a Boots machine, I think! I also need to take some full length ones myself in dancewear. I'm not the best photographer.
Re: Application forms
Re: leotards for Laines audition. For the ballet class a classical (plain) leotard is essential. Miss Laine always watches the ballet and is very specific about uniform - no fancy leotards/hairstyles, no jewelery (even small stud earings), no nailvarnish etc. This was stressed to us on the audition support day. However most will change into a more distinctive leotard, add make-up, restyle hair etc for the rest of the audition. Some even dressed up in skirts/dresses/shoes for the drama. Also although it says you do not need to prepare a monologue virtually all had and they all got to perform them leaving those few without rather at a disadvantage.
Re: Application forms
Oh I do hope DD's is OK - hair/make-up & jewellery are not a problem - she's be thrown out of class if she did
Monologue <gulp> DD is worried about this a lot (for all of them)

Re: Application forms
Re: monologue....they were very specific at Bird that both monologue and song must be age appropriate (DD was asked if she knew anything else when they deemed her song inappropriate...so she had to sing something a cappella) and at the open day the Vice-Principal made a personal plea not to perform the monologue from "Like a Virgin" (Gordon Steel)...he said he'd heard it so many times he couldn't bear to listen to it anymore!!
Re: Application forms
Yes we had heard about 'age appropriate' but tbh how many musicals have songs in for 15yo girls?
Things like Bugsy, Matilda & Annie are too young and things like Chicago, Sweet Charity are too old; I guess 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' gets very old, along with 'I am 16 going on 17'....maybe I should start a thread

Re: Application forms
Far From the Home I Love is a lovely song for a sop (from Fiddler on the Roof).
The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive.
Re: Application forms
There are at least one good number in the Richard Taylor Whistle Down the Wind - as performed by the NYMT, though I'm not sure where you'd find the music. 'Cathy's Prayer' in act 1 is a powerful and dramatic song for a 15-17-year-old girl, and 'Angels' and 'Sweet Jesus' might be worth checking out too.
Re: Application forms
Little Women is also worth looking at

Re: Application forms
Thanks - do you know I don't actually know what a monologue is?
Is it always from a play or can it be from a book or a film? what about a radio play?
