Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put results

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result
Well she got her first 'proper' audition & her last one, so I'm not sure how that worked.
But we were considering if she over trained at the end of last year which might explain why the first one and the one after Christmas when she rested were the ones she got? Over-training isn't something I know a lot about but it might explain it......
But thanks for the good wishes everyone - much appreciated

Well done Katy Mac!! It's lovely to hear of good news. It makes it feel all worth while. Hope your DD gets the DADA now!
We had a good day at the Urdang audition on Sunday! They gave us a talk at the start. They explained the different courses Diploma/Degree etc. I think it was very useful. One thing that came across to me was that it's very important to be a triple threat for the Degree course. Some people can be fantastic dancers but they need to be really good at all 3. I'm going to be telling anyone I know who's child wants to do a degree in MT to work on the singing and acting too.
My DD enjoyed the day and for the most part she thinks it went well. But she also said there was an awful lot of talented dancers there. So we will have to see. She said the staff were all really nice and friendly and the day seemed quite relaxed.
Will let you know the result. But realistically not really expecting a yes.

Has anyone had the experience if a lsmt recall? There doesn't seem to be much info around in this. Many thanks.

I know someone who did the one year course there and absolutely loved it. It was quite an intense course at 18. However, can't be of more help sorry

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result
My DD had her Urdang audition last Sunday. She felt she did great in the singing, interview and flexibility and where Jazz is her strongest, she felt that she was out of time for a few beats and is now questioning her ability. I have tried to reassure her that she may be assessed overall not just for her Jazz and Ballet (which is her weakest). She did the pre-audition course last year and has West End training every Sunday as well as two ballet classes a week, but her Jazz failure as really knocked her sideways. She loves Jazz and dance in general and is on for an A* for her GCSE. Is there anybody out there that can verify that being a few beats out in Jazz, a bit weak on Ballet will not really matter????

Hi Monty,
Unfortunately I doubt if anyone could give you any definitive assurance to pass on to your DD, just keep on encouraging her.
From experience, it is impossible to second guess what the panels look for or what they see at auditions. But if it helps your DD at all, my DD was offered a place on Urdangs 3 year diploma 2 years ago, with singing as her strongest asset, with dance as her weakest, or at least her least trained discipline. She felt very confident with her acting, they were asked to do an improve piece in a group of 4 other auditionees, and that just went right for her on the day, she used a bit of comedy which she seems to naturally fit into. She does always say that all of the other girls are better dancers, but many have started dancing at 3 & 4 years old. But Urdang must have seen potential in her. Unfortunately she didn't get a Dada at that time, so is just about to start the whole audition process again this year, and she and I (her greatest fan) are really hoping and praying this will be her 'year'.
Tell your DD to not lose heart and to keep working as hard as she is, she will get there eventually!

Hi Monty - my dd auditioned at Urdang the Sunday before, she too found the jazz hard and has been dancing years! She did the pre-audition week last summer and found the audition much harder than that! She has only just turned 16 and said a lot of them were older but like kitkat said - you really can't second guess what they are looking for and each different college is looking for something else
I think the experince is great for them but the waiting is a killer isn't it?
Good luck to your dd x

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result
Dd1 has a 'no' for LIPA and dd2 a 'no' from Elmhurst. Still waiting for results from Blackpool and Northern Ballet School.
Next auditions are RCS, GSA and new acting/musical theatre course at dd's theatre school (back up plan) for dd1 and Rambert and full time dance course at a local dance college (back up plan) for dd2.

Good Luck JayLou62 for next auditions - I can't imagine how stressful it must be with two dds going through it at the same time - its bad enough with one!

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result
My dd was at Urdang Sunday just gone and found the jazz very hard, she said it was taught very quickly. Didn't find the ballet to bad now keeping every thing crossed that she gets in as she loved the place. Does anyone know how long it takes Urdang to send the letters out?
