Does anyone know about the pre-vocational at Performers?

A place to talk about full time schools and post 16 training.

What great advice katkit. Nice to hear such a positive experience. I have a feeling there is a handbook for charities that might help with fees. Local ones can be good for this. Might be worth investigating to fund a pre voc year. There are a few short pre voc courses too. Bird do one at Easter I think. Good luck for 2014 all :)

It is hard deciding what to do - especially as A levels aren't an option

Katymac is that because the school don't offer ones your DD would like to do? Otherwise I suppose another option is A levels and continue with outside school classes/short courses etc?

She's just not dramatically academic - she works very hard to get Cs

The school have made this worse by putting her in for so many GCSEs (they wanted the equivalent of 17 - have have bargined them down to the equivalent of about 13/14)

Plus in the first weeks of 6th form college by friends children (who got A/A* at GCSE) were told 'these' are the topics we won't be covering so you will need to self study......so they spent 3-4 hours a night working on their A levels - which doesn't bode well for how much work DD would have to do

This is gping to sound silly. But I'm too scared to ring & ask

I have to pay £100 to reserve a place but does that commit me to paying for the first term or can I pul out? As DD might get a DaDA for a level 6 & I don't know for ages yet

No we paid that last year and then i can't remember exactly but I think July time they send an invoice for the fees and that's when you have to committ. They sent a nice letter wishing my daughter luck when we said we wouldn't be going ahead after all
